Your Role with Us
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, you will prepare and develop detailed electrical design packages for industrial oil and gas facilities throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. This is a hands-on technical design role requiring strong drafting, equipment layout, and electrical design knowledge. You will work closely with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to develop construction-ready drawing packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical design drawings for industrial facilities from preliminary engineering through Issued for Construction (IFC).
- Develop and maintain:
- Single line diagrams
- Area classification drawings
- Electrical equipment layouts
- Cable schedules
- Cable tray and conduit layouts
- Grounding plans
- Lighting layouts o Motor and control schematics
- Loop drawings and wiring diagrams
• Prepare bills of materials and equipment lists.
- Coordinate electrical designs with process, mechanical, civil/structural, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Review vendor drawings and incorporate equipment information into project deliverables.
- Apply Canadian Electrical Code requirements, client standards, and industry best practices.
- Support brownfield tie-ins, shutdown scopes, and drawing revisions.
- Assist engineering during construction by responding to requests for information and incorporating field changes. Participate in periodic site visits throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan to support field verification and design development.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician OR
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Design/Drafting Technology with CET designation (or eligibility for registration with ASET).
- Minimum four (4) years of industrial electrical design experience, preferably within oil and gas or EPC environments.
- Strong understanding of: o Canadian Electrical Code o Industrial power distribution systems
- Hazardous area classification
- PLC and DCS control systems o Electrical equipment layouts
- Cable routing and installation practices
- Oil and gas facility design
• Experience using AutoCAD. Experience with Bluebeam is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality design deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a rapid-paced consulting environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
