Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intermediate/Senior Financial Auditor to join our public accounting practice. The successful candidate will be involved in audit and assurance engagements for a diverse client base, with a particular focus on Canadian reporting issuers, public companies, junior mining and exploration companies, and other small to mid-sized businesses.

This role is well suited for a candidate with hands-on external audit experience who is comfortable working through the full audit cycle, including planning, risk assessment, audit execution, financial statement review, and completion. Previous experience auditing reporting issuers or other publicly listed companies is required or strongly preferred, depending on the candidate's overall level of experience.

The successful candidate will work closely with partners, managers, clients, and other members of the engagement team and will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility for engagements.

Duties

- Perform and, depending on experience, lead external financial statement audit engagements from planning through completion.
- Participate in audits of Canadian reporting issuers and publicly listed companies, including junior mining, exploration, technology, start-up, and other emerging companies.
- Prepare and review audit working papers in accordance with Canadian Auditing Standards and firm methodology.
- Perform audit planning, risk assessment, materiality determination, substantive testing, analytical procedures, and other audit procedures.
- Identify accounting, auditing, and financial reporting issues and discuss findings with engagement managers and partners.




- Review financial statements and note disclosures prepared under International Financial Reporting Standards, and where applicable, Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises.
- Assist with the audit of areas commonly encountered in reporting issuer engagements, including share capital transactions, private placements, warrants, stock options and other share-based compensation, exploration and evaluation assets, impairment, related party transactions, going concern, and subsequent events.
- Assist with the review of public company continuous disclosure documents and other regulatory filing requirements, where applicable.
- Communicate with clients regarding audit requests, outstanding matters, supporting documentation, and identified audit issues.
- Supervise and review work completed by junior staff where appropriate.
- Assist with engagement completion, financial statement tie-out, audit adjustments, management representation letters, and other required completion documentation.
- Maintain awareness of developments in Canadian Auditing Standards, International Financial Reporting Standards, securities reporting requirements, and other relevant professional standards.
- Contribute to an efficient and practical audit approach suitable for small and mid-sized public and private companies.

Qualifications




- Approximately 2 to 5+ years of external audit experience in a public accounting firm, depending on the level of the position.
- Experience auditing Canadian reporting issuers, publicly listed companies, or other public-company engagements is required or strongly preferred.
- Experience with junior mining, exploration, natural resources, technology, or start-up companies is considered a significant asset.
- Positive working knowledge of Canadian Auditing Standards.
- Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards is required for candidates with reporting issuer experience.
- Experience with financial statement preparation, review, and disclosure requirements.
- CPA designation, successful completion of the Common Final Examination, or active progress toward the CPA designation is preferred.
- Experience with CaseWare or similar audit software is preferred.
- Ability to independently organize and complete assigned audit sections and identify issues requiring senior or partner attention.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a public accounting environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a practical, team-oriented approach to client service.

This position provides the opportunity to gain substantial hands-on experience with public-company and reporting issuer audits, work directly with senior professionals and partners, and develop broader exposure across a variety of industries and complex accounting matters. Pay: $60,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
