Program Overview

Languages Canada, a Government of Canada-recognized organization under International Experience Canada (IEC), is accepting applications for an English Teaching Assistant internship placement in France, offered through our Working Holiday Program.

Placement Details

Location: Placements available across France, including Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Rennes

Placement period: 2026-2027 school year

Hours: 24 hours of teaching/co-teaching, 11 hours of training and preparation, 35 hours total per week

Monthly stipend: Approximately €600/month

Transportation: 50% reimbursement of the monthly local public transportation card

Housing: Not included; interns must arrange their own accommodation, though support may be available depending on the placement location

Visa support: Guidance provided

Placements are available in French primary and secondary schools. Interns will support English-language learning by co-teaching with French teachers and helping deliver English classes, workshops, conversation activities, and non-linguistic subjects in English.

- Conversation classes

The goal of the program is to maximize students’ English comprehension and oral exposure while helping them build confidence and motivation toward language learning. ______________________

Eligibility Requirements

Ideal candidates should be

- eligible for the internship/study visa for France - mandatory
- current students or recent graduates able to have their Canadian university sign the internship agreement (see sample agreement) - mandatory
- native or near-native English speakers




- able to communicate in French at a basic working level
- interested in working with children and young learners
- motivated, reliable, adaptable, and autonomous
- positive, dynamic, and comfortable in a classroom workplace
- available for the full placement period

Responsibilities

Selected interns are expected to:

- teach and co-teach lessons in English with French classroom teachers
- support English-language learning through classroom activities and workshops
- prepare lessons, activities, and teaching materials
- help deliver parts of the curriculum in English, including non-linguistic subjects such as PE, art, science, or cultural activities
- assist with student engagement and classroom participation
- support pupil supervision during breaks and lunch periods, where required
- participate in regular follow-up and evaluation meetings
- communicate regularly with pedagogical mentors and coordinators
- be flexible and open to adapting to the needs of the host school
- complete the agreed placement period responsibly

Training and Support

Participants will be provided with structured training and pedagogical support throughout the internship, including:

- one week of initial training,



online or in person depending on the placement
- one week of advanced training during the first school holidays, paid
- weekly meetings with a pedagogical mentor
- support with lesson planning and classroom preparation
- regular check-ins with a dedicated pedagogical coordinator
- ongoing pedagogical guidance throughout the placement
