We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Account Investigation Specialist to join our Toronto office. In this role you will locate individuals and assets to support our collections and recovery efforts, and review customer and merchant files for signs of fraudulent activity.
What You Will Do
- Perform in-depth investigations and searches using internal systems, databases, and online and offline resources to locate individuals and assets
- Use OSINT and paid skip tracing tools, databases, and investigative techniques to gather and verify information
- Analyze account activity to identify discrepancies, anomalies, or potential recovery opportunities
- Review customer and merchant files to assess for potential fraudulent activity
- Assess and validate the reliability of information obtained from all sources
- Maintain accurate, complete records of all investigation and skip tracing activity and findings
- Collaborate with the Collections and Recovery teams to develop strategies for locating hard-to-find individuals
- Resolve discrepancies and follow up on leads through to a successful outcome
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, team members, and external parties
- Work within all company policies, procedures, and applicable legal and privacy requirements
- Perform other related duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For
- Fluency in English is required. French is a strong asset and is valued for supporting our Quebec portfolio
- Previous experience in investigations, skip tracing, collections, or a related field is preferred
- Familiarity with provincial legislation relating to auto and repair loan lending is an asset
- Proficiency with OSINT and paid skip tracing tools and databases
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of the legal, regulatory, and privacy requirements related to account investigations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with industry best practices and trends
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
