IT Cyber Security Consultant -L3 (IAM Advisor) (12 month contract)
Location: Hybrid / Burnaby, BC
Staffing Placement Opportunity
General Description The IT Cyber Security Consultant Level 3 performs activities that reduce, mitigate, and document security risks to protect critical information infrastructure and ensure compliance with digital technology, cybersecurity regulations, and organizational policies.
The successful candidate will provide senior-level cybersecurity and IAM expertise, with a strong focus on Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), identity lifecycle management, IAM modernization, governance, and cloud identity platforms.
Experience And Role Accountabilities
- A minimum of seven (7) years of working experience in Information Technology, with at least five (5) years of experience in cybersecurity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Identify potential cybersecurity risks and incidents by performing vulnerability assessments, coordinating with internal teams and stakeholders, and monitoring external events and security logs to support organizational preparedness and contingency planning.
- Determine remediation options and recommend solutions by analyzing security test results, assessing the impact of security risks, and validating baseline security configurations for operating systems, applications, networking tools, and telecommunications equipment.
- Provide support during and after critical systems experience security breaches, outages, errors, or unexpected activities by creating security operations documentation, such as incident reports, and collaborating with incident response leads and subject matter experts to consistently implement security incident response plans.
- Assist business groups, as required, in defining and/or delivering security requirements, security design, security testing, implementation support, and the transition of new security systems and devices from project delivery into operations.
- Provide guidance on cybersecurity-related action items within IT projects by conducting compliance impact assessments and collaborating with project managers to ensure that projects follow cybersecurity best practices and applicable regulations and policies.
- Assist with creating and maintaining organizational security standards and guidelines by developing, tuning, and implementing threat detection analytics and reviewing existing security controls, event data,
and other data sources to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, compliance, safety, emergency management, service provider, and security administration teams to complete compliance sustainment activities, including preparing detailed reports and collecting audit supporting documentation.
- Support the development, revision, and maintenance of cybersecurity compliance policies, processes, procedures, and governance frameworks.
Education And Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or an equivalent field.
- Certification in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset:
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)

Work Assignment Requirements IAM Advisor – IGA / IAM Modernization
- 7+ years of enterprise IAM experience, with a strong focus on Identity Governance and Administration (IGA).
- Experience leading or supporting IGA strategy, vendor evaluations, requirements gathering, and platform selection initiatives, such as SailPoint, Saviynt, or Microsoft Entra ID Governance.
- Strong understanding of identity lifecycle management, including joiner, mover, leaver processes, access requests and approvals, provisioning, role management, access certification, and segregation of duties.
- Experience developing IAM architectures, standards, governance frameworks, policies, and operating models.
- Knowledge of hybrid identity architectures, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and cloud identity integration patterns.
- Understanding of Zero Trust, least privilege, and identity-centric security principles.
- Experience implementing or integrating IAM, IGA, and PAM solutions within large and complex organizations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, business analysis, and consulting skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into IAM capabilities and solutions.
- Experience supporting regulatory, audit, compliance, and access governance initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CyberArk, SailPoint, Saviynt, Microsoft Entra ID Governance, or similar IAM/IGA platforms.
- Experience supporting IAM modernization, identity transformation, or cloud adoption programs.
- Experience working within large enterprise, regulated, or complex organizational environments.
Ideal Candidate A senior IAM professional with deep expertise in Identity Governance, identity lifecycle management, governance controls, IAM architecture, and modern cloud identity platforms. The ideal candidate will be capable of supporting an IAM modernization program across the full lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through implementation, integration, governance, and organizational adoption.
