Position Overview

DART Aerospace is looking for an experienced IT System Administrator – Level 2 to join our IT team in Kirkland, Quebec, for a 12-month contract.

This is a hands-on infrastructure and systems administration role supporting a manufacturing and corporate environment. The successful candidate will provide Level 2 technical support while maintaining and administering servers, networks, Microsoft environments, virtualization platforms, and IT infrastructure.

The position sits between Helpdesk/Desktop Support and senior infrastructure administration. It requires someone capable of independently troubleshooting technical issues, managing day-to-day systems administration activities, supporting infrastructure projects, and escalating complex issues when required.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration

- Administer and maintain Windows Server environments.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Support DNS, DHCP, file services, and related infrastructure services.
- Perform system maintenance, upgrades, patching, and configuration activities.
- Monitor system availability, performance, and reliability.
- Support backup and recovery processes.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, configurations, and procedures.

Network & Infrastructure Support

- Support and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure, VPNs, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.
- Diagnose network connectivity and performance issues.
- Assist with network configuration, maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Monitor network and system environments and escalate potential security or infrastructure issues.
- Support reliable connectivity across manufacturing, business, and corporate environments.

Microsoft & Cloud Environment

- Administer and support Microsoft 365 environments.
- Support Microsoft Azure services and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Assist with identity and access management.
- Support hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure.

Virtualization





- Support VMware and/or Hyper-V environments.
- Assist with provisioning, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting virtual machines.
- Monitor virtualization performance and availability.

Level 2 Technical Support

- Act as an escalation point for technical issues requiring Level 2 expertise.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, network, and infrastructure-related issues.
- Perform technical diagnostics and root-cause analysis.
- Work closely with Level 1 support and senior IT resources to resolve complex issues.
- Communicate technical information clearly to users with different levels of IT knowledge.

Security & Access Management

- Follow DART Aerospace cybersecurity policies, procedures, and IT best practices.
- Support identity and access management activities.
- Assist with system hardening, patching, endpoint security, and vulnerability remediation.
- Identify and escalate potential cybersecurity incidents or infrastructure risks.
- Support compliance requirements related to IT systems and access.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

- Use PowerShell or similar scripting tools to automate repetitive administrative tasks where appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability and support efficiency.
- Participate in infrastructure projects, migrations, upgrades, and technology deployments.
- Maintain and improve IT documentation and operating procedures.

Required Qualifications

- Approximately 3–5 years of experience in System Administration, Network Administration, IT Infrastructure, or a similar technical role.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server administration.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
- Good understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, switches, and firewalls.
- Experience with VMware and/or Hyper-V.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments.




- Exposure to Microsoft Azure or other cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with system patching, backups, monitoring, permissions, and access management.
- Working knowledge of PowerShell or another scripting language.
- Good understanding of cybersecurity principles and IT security best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Ability to maintain clear technical documentation.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize technical issues, and escalate appropriately.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Professional working proficiency in English.

Eligibility Requirement

Canadian citizenship is required for this position.

The successful candidate must meet DART Aerospace’s applicable International Trade Compliance (ITC) and export-controlled information access requirements.

Employment will also be subject to applicable compliance and background screening requirements.

Assets

- Experience working in a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other regulated environment.
- Experience supporting multiple sites or business locations.
- Linux administration experience.
- Additional Microsoft Azure or cloud infrastructure experience.
- Power BI knowledge.
- Experience using AI tools or technologies in an IT environment.
- French or Spanish language skills.
