Saskatoon Public Schools is the largest school division in Saskatchewan, serving nearly 29,000 students with the support of more than 3,300 dedicated professional and support staff. SASKATOON PUBLIC SCHOOLS REQUIRES A:
journeyperson electrician
Reporting to the Manager of Maintenance, the Journeyperson Electrician applies technical expertise in the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of electrical systems throughout Saskatoon Public Schools properties. The position works independently and in collaboration with other Maintenance staff to ensure electrical systems and equipment are operating safely and effectively.
Candidates must have Grade 12 or equivalent and hold Saskatchewan-recognized Journeyperson status in the Electrical trade. A minimum of five years of directly related experience as a Journeyperson, preferably in electrical construction and maintenance, is required.
The position requires the ability to interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and work orders; install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair,
and test electrical systems and equipment; and use a variety of power and hand tools and standard electrical testing instruments. Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and secure work practices is essential.
The ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, and work cooperatively with other system personnel is required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to interact professionally with staff, students, and the public, including in situations where electrical work may temporarily restrict access or affect the use of facilities or equipment. The successful candidate must possess a valid Saskatchewan driver's licence.
The position may occasionally require afternoon or weekend work to meet organizational objectives.
