# Junior Mechanical Engineer — Resolute Autonomy

Carleton Place / Almonte area, Ontario · Full-time, in office · $60,000–$75,000

Resolute Autonomy builds small uncrewed surface vessels for Canadian waters: Canadian-built aluminium hulls fitted with our own compute, sensors and autonomy software. We are a small team with a working prototype, a workshop, and our own private test shoreline on Clayton Lake.

On-water trials start this fall, and a ground-vehicle prototype is next.

The role. You will do mechanical work that gets wet. Sensor masts and mounts, transducer installations, waterproof enclosures and cable penetrations, battery and solar mounting, deck hardware, and the fixtures that make assembly repeatable. You will take parts from CAD through fabrication with our shop, install them on the boat, and be there for on-water testing.

As the ground-vehicle prototype starts, you will work on its chassis and mounts too. You will work directly with the founder — there is no layer between your work and the vessel.

What we need:

- A degree or diploma in mechanical engineering or a related field




- Solid CAD skills — 3D modelling and drawings someone can actually build from
- Comfort in a workshop: hand and power tools, measuring, fitting, fixing
- Basic engineering judgment — loads, fasteners, materials, corrosion
- A driver's licence; test days are at a rural lakeside site
- Eligibility to work in Canada and for Government of Canada security screening

What helps: boats or time on the water; welding or machining; electronics assembly —

soldering, cable looms, connectors; marine hardware or off-road/robotics experience; not minding cold hands in November.

What you get: $60,000–$75,000 depending on experience, three weeks of vacation, a health spending account, breadth a big company can't offer, hardware you can point at, test days on our own lake, and a small company where your work is visible.
