About the Opportunity

Mercor is partnering with a leading legal AI company on a blinded human-preference study and is seeking experienced finance and real estate lawyers to serve as expert reviewers.

You will review a realistic synthetic legal matter and evaluate multiple AI-generated legal work products. Your expertise will help determine which outputs demonstrate the strongest legal accuracy, completeness, judgment, usefulness, and overall professional quality.

Responsibilities

- Review a synthetic legal matter and its underlying documents.
- Evaluate six blinded AI-generated work products, labeled A–F.
- Conduct head-to-head comparisons between AI deliverables and a common comparator.
- Assess legal work products for correctness, completeness, judgment, and practical usefulness.
- Identify meaningful differences in the quality and effectiveness of competing AI-generated outputs.
- Apply substantive expertise in finance and real estate law to evaluate legal reasoning and drafting.
- Provide a short, specific written rationale explaining each preference.
- Follow project instructions and evaluation criteria consistently.
- Work independently while meeting the engagement's required deadline.

Required Qualifications

- Qualified lawyer with substantive professional experience in relevant finance and real estate legal matters.
- Experience with one or more of the specified practice areas:
- Senior secured credit facility markup review
- Project finance credit agreements
- RMBS closing exception review
- Tenant-favourable commercial leases
- Mixed-use development agreements
- Robust ability to evaluate legal work product holistically.




- Excellent understanding of legal correctness, completeness, judgment, and practical usefulness.
- Precise and professional written English.
- Strong analytical and critical-review skills.
- Ability to work independently from written instructions and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing complex legal documents.

Preferred Qualifications

- Significant experience in finance, structured finance, project finance, or real estate transactions.
- Experience reviewing and negotiating credit agreements and commercial leases.
- Experience with RMBS transactions and closing documentation.
- Strong transactional legal drafting and document-review experience.
- Experience evaluating or comparing AI-generated legal work products.
- Previous experience with legal technology or AI-assisted legal workflows.

Compensation

- $100–$120/hour
- Hourly contract engagement.
- Fully remote opportunity.
- Approximately 30 hours across the engagement.
- Opportunity to contribute expert legal judgment to a legal AI evaluation study.

Eligibility

- Qualified lawyers with substantive experience in the specified finance and real estate practice areas.
- Candidates must be able to independently evaluate complex legal work products and provide clear written reasoning.
- All project materials are subject to confidentiality requirements and an NDA.
- External AI tools must not be used on project materials.
