Since 1988, the Grey Nuns Community Hospital has supported southeast Edmonton and the surrounding area with compassionate, full-service care that meets a wide range of health needs.

The hospital is conveniently located near transit, parks and shops in the heart of the Mill Woods neighbourhood. Unit 42 is a 32 bed surgical unit serving over 3000 Albertans per year.

The services we have comprise mainly of: General Surgery, Gynecological Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, ENT and Plastic Surgery. Unit 42 is a very busy, acute surgical unit that requires a high functioning team environment.

Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating in the delivery of holistic care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN practices to full scope, applying professional nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills to support safe care and positive health outcomes. The role is committed to providing person-centred, culturally safe, and inclusive care that respects the diverse backgrounds, experiences, values, and needs of patients/residents and families.

The LPN contributes to a culture of learning and professional practice excellence by orienting, coaching, mentoring, and supporting the development of staff, students, and learners. The role promotes knowledge sharing and collaborative practice to enhance individual, team, and organizational effectiveness.

The LPN demonstrates leadership within their scope of practice by coordinating care activities, supporting effective team functioning, and contributing to quality improvement and patient/resident safety initiatives. Required Qualifications Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).

Basic Life Support Healthcare

Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications

Recent surgical or acute care nursing experience and/or a recent successful surgical preceptorship (within the last year) required.

Preferred Qualifications

Inpatient surgical experience within the last 2 years would be an asset.
