PURPOSE
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Loader Operator operates a loader using forks to unload cargo from airplanes, load and unload cargo on flatbed trailers, loading aggregate in dump trucks, and do snow removal .
SCOPE The Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment. They will also ensure that accurate and timely information regarding supplies, tools and time are provided and recorded as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES The Loader Operator is required to:
- operate as a team member in a cross cultural work environment.
- follow all required safety procedures.
- Has experience operating a 972 CAT Loader, 644 JD Loader and 544 JD Loader
- Unload and load cargo with care and precision
- Attach Forks and Buckets without assistance
- Load aggregate efficiently without spinning the tires
The Heavy Equipment Operator performs a wide range of duties as follows:
- Operates assigned heavy equipment and performs some repairs and maintenance activities in a secure manner.
- Practices good housekeeping to keep the workplace clean and orderly.
- Provides information to the Forman so that the required forms can be generated in timely manner and are accurately recorded.
- Other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Skills & Knowledge:
- Familiarity with the safety concerns related to the operation and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Current first aid certificate (standard or emergency).
Education:
- Certification as a Heavy Equipment Operator .
Experience:
- Five years experience operating a loader using forks, and buckets
WORKING CONDITIONS The successful candidate will be expected to work 11-14 hour shifts while on site, on a rotational basis of 6 weeks in and 2 weeks out. Camp accommodation and transportation are provided.
Wages and benefits will be based on experience.
Occupational Health and Safety is of major importance and all personnel are required to follow good work practices, completing tasks in a safe and orderly manner.
Some heavy lifting may be required, and you are expected to get out of the equipment and help move cargo when neccessary.
