Apollo Forest Products, a member of the Sinclar Group since 1969, is a major employer in Fort St. James. With a strong and secure fibre supply, the mill produces approximately 150 million board feet of premium-quality stud lumber annually. The Opportunity

Apollo Forest Products is seeking a Log Scaler to join our team in Fort St. James, BC. The Log Scaler is responsible for measuring harvested timber to determine both scale and quality for manufacturing purposes. This includes measuring logs, identifying species, assessing defects, and calculating net merchantable volume. This is a full-time hourly position.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform scaling duties in accordance with industry standards and company requirements.
- Measure and assess logs for species, quality, and defects.
- Calculate net merchantable volume accurately and efficiently.




- Communicate effectively with log yard and woodlands personnel.
- Complete reports and required documentation in a timely manner.
- Work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

- Valid BC Log Scaler Certificate required.
- Previous forestry, log yard, or sawmill experience is considered an asset.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with computers and standard software applications.
- Reliable, organized, and self-motivated.

Compensation

Wage Rate: $39.64 per hour
