The Machine Operator is responsible for operating landscaping equipment safely and efficiently to maintain commercial, municipal, and roadside properties. The successful candidate will have experience operating zero-turn mowers and other landscaping equipment while maintaining high standards of quality, productivity, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely operate zero-turn mowers to maintain lawns, boulevards, parks, commercial properties, and roadside green spaces.
- Operate landscaping equipment such as string trimmers, backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, ride-on mowers, aerators, and other power equipment.
- Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment to ensure it is in protected working condition.
- Carry out basic equipment maintenance, including cleaning, fueling, lubricating, and reporting mechanical issues.
- Mow, trim, edge, and maintain turf according to company quality standards.
- Follow work schedules and complete assigned routes efficiently.
- Load, unload, and transport equipment safely between job sites.
- Identify and report hazards, damaged equipment, or unsafe working conditions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and equipment.
- Comply with all company policies, health and safety regulations, and environmental best practices.




- Work effectively as part of a landscaping crew and communicate professionally with supervisors and clients when required.
- Perform other landscaping duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Previous experience operating zero-turn mowers is required.
- Experience in commercial landscaping, grounds maintenance, or highway vegetation maintenance is preferred.
- Valid Class G driver's licence with a clean driving record (preferred).
- Knowledge of safe operation of landscaping equipment and power tools.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating compact equipment such as skid steers, compact tractors, or utility vehicles.
- Knowledge of turf care, pruning, weed control, and landscape maintenance practices.
- Experience working in municipal, commercial, or highway landscaping.
- WHMIS and health and safety training are considered assets.
