Stellar Recruitment is looking for a Maintenance & Engineering Superintendent to oversee maintenance and engineering activities across a fleet of vessels supporting critical marine transportation operations. This role is ideal for an experienced marine engineering professional with a robust combination of on-board vessel experience and shore-based management experience , who is confident leading teams, managing budgets and vendors, and making technical decisions in a fast-paced environment.

The fleet includes modern 150m LNG/diesel/battery hybrid vessels alongside older vessels, providing exposure to a diverse range of marine systems and technologies. If you have strong marine engineering and leadership experience, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

- Oversee maintenance and engineering activities across a fleet of six vessels
- Lead a shore-based maintenance and engineering team, including Port Engineers, maintenance personnel, and sailing engineers
- Coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, breakdowns, and unscheduled maintenance
- Provide technical oversight of vessel machinery, propulsion, electrical systems, equipment, and hull maintenance
- Manage maintenance programs in line with company policies, class requirements, and Canadian marine regulations
- Plan and coordinate drydock activities, shipyard work, and vessel improvement projects
- Manage maintenance, engineering, drydock, and capital budgets
- Manage and negotiate with vendors, suppliers, shipyards, and contractors
- Investigate equipment failures and implement recommendations to improve fleet reliability




- Lead, mentor, and develop technical teams within a unionized environment
- Support workforce planning, scheduling, operational readiness, and continuous improvement

Qualifications and Experience:

- Post-secondary education in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, or relevant Marine/Power/Stationary Engineer qualification
- 5+ years of progressive supervisory or management experience in a marine or mechanical repair environment
- Strong onboard vessel experience combined with shore-based marine engineering/maintenance management experience
- Experience managing unionized employees
- Strong knowledge of vessel machinery, propulsion, electrical systems, and equipment repair
- Experience with similar vessels and/or systems, particularly LNG/diesel/battery hybrid vessels, MAN generators, ABB, or Siemens
- Strong knowledge of Canadian marine legislation, regulations, and class requirements
- Experience managing budgets, vendors, contractors, scheduling, and maintenance programs
- Strong troubleshooting, decision-making, leadership, and communication skills
- Marine Certificate of Competency is an asset
- Experience with drydock planning, shipyard coordination, commissioning, or vessel integration is an asset

Rate: $144k - 176k base, + Bonus Position type: Full-time, permanent
