Canada’s National voice for aerospace, defence and space is seeking a dynamic, creative and member-driven communications and social media leader to join our team in Ottawa.

Background

Reporting to the CEO and VP, Public Affairs and Government Relations, the Manager of Communications and social media is a key member of AIAC’s team and will set and guide the strategy for all communications, social media, website, and public relations messages and material while consistently articulating the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada’s vision and mission.

The Manager of Communications and social media will ensure AIAC is viewed as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information within the membership, external stakeholders, governmental partners and the general public on the aerospace industry in Canada.

The Manager of Communications and social media will work closely with the AIAC team as the communications and social media partner on a variety of strategic initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Establish and drive a multi-channel communications and social media strategy
- Develop material in support of CEO activities including speeches, presentations, media and parliamentary appearances.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications and social media plan across the association's discreet audiences in collaboration with AIAC’s Government Relations and management team and constituents
- Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action.




- Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities.
- Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, social media platforms and AIAC's website.
- Revamping AIAC’s website and coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly.
- Track and measure the level of engagement within the various traditional and social media platforms.
- Maintain a good relationship with the Parliamentary Press Gallery and industry media.
- Manage development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, annual report, e-newsletters, and AIAC’s website.
- Acts as the brand manager and quality control lead for the association documents
- Manage all media contacts

Qualifications

AIAC is seeking an accomplished Senior Manager of Communications and social media who has at least 5 years of communications experience, ideally in an “in-house” leadership role within a nonprofit entity or a political or government environment, and covering areas such as social media and website content, newsletters, and member communications.



The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and practical messages and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical.

Specific requirements include

- Bilingual an asset.
- Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies.
- Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
- A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently.
- Knowledge of Canadian politics ecosystem or/and the aerospace industry an asset.
- Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence" .
- High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
- Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters.
- Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, InDesign and Premier Pro, Office, Excel, Power-Point and Word.
- Experience managing digital content.
- Proven team-building skills.

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related discipline
