Manufacturing Technician – Two Positions Available

Location: Nisku, Alberta

About Precise

Precise Downhole Solutions is an Edmonton-area technology company specializing in advanced downhole monitoring and instrumentation systems for the energy industry. We design and manufacture innovative products used in demanding oil and gas, geothermal, and industrial applications worldwide.

We are currently hiring two Manufacturing Technicians to support the assembly, testing, and delivery of our proprietary downhole technology.

The Role The Manufacturing Technician is a hands-on technical position responsible for manufacturing and testing Precise’s product lines, including:

- PEP™ multipoint temperature-monitoring systems
- RFT™ permanent downhole pressure and temperature gauges
- DFOS distributed fiber-optic sensing cable systems
- Associated downhole instrumentation, cabling, connectors, splices, and mechanical assemblies

This position is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation who enjoys precision assembly, problem-solving, and building advanced technology.

Key Responsibilities

- Assemble mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and fiber-optic components
- Manufacture downhole gauges, sensing cables, thermocouple systems, and related assemblies
- Perform cable preparation, splicing, termination, soldering, crimping, and connector installation
- Complete pressure, temperature, electrical, optical, and functional testing
- Read and follow engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, procedures, and work instructions
- Operate specialized manufacturing and testing equipment
- Record manufacturing and quality-control data accurately
- Inspect incoming components and completed assemblies




- Identify and troubleshoot manufacturing or product-quality issues
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Project Management, and Field Services
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Support continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and procedures
- Assist with inventory control, material preparation, and product packaging when required

Required Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in one of the following areas:
- Engineering Technology
- Instrumentation Engineering Technology
- Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Petroleum Engineering or Petroleum Engineering Technology
- Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology
- A closely related technical discipline
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work with small components, precision tools, and delicate instrumentation
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturing instructions
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable using computers and documenting completed work
- Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Solid commitment to safety, quality, and workmanship
- Legally entitled to work in Canada

Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following areas would be an asset:
- Instrumentation assembly or calibration
- Fiber-optic cable preparation, termination, or splicing
- Electrical wiring, soldering, and connector assembly
- Pressure and temperature testing




- Downhole tools or oilfield equipment
- Stainless-steel tubing, capillary tubing, or cable manufacturing
- Quality-management systems and controlled manufacturing documentation
- Lean manufacturing or continuous-improvement practices

Training will be provided on Precise’s proprietary products and manufacturing processes.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lb
- Ability to stand or work at a manufacturing bench for extended periods
- Manual dexterity and good visual attention for precision assembly
- Ability to use standard hand tools and manufacturing equipment safely
