Oak is a forensic engineering firm based in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta, that specializes in mechanical, structural, and material forensic engineering. Founded in 2020, Oak has enjoyed steady and stable growth, and we are looking to expand further with the addition of another professional engineer.

Role:

Our engineers conduct failure investigations for our clients. Generally, your work will involve:

- conducting site inspections and collecting evidence at residential, commercial, and industrial sites;
- reviewing and interpreting background documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, maintenance records, and other relevant materials;
- researching and applying applicable codes, standards, regulations, technical literature, and industry practices;
- communicating directly with clients and providing regular updates regarding project progress, budgets, timelines, findings, and deliverables;
- prescribing, coordinating,



and conducting component testing and other investigative or laboratory testing as required;
- preparing detailed reports that clearly communicate findings, conclusions, and recommendations;
- occasionally attending court, arbitration, or other legal proceedings as an expert witness;
- assisting or managing Edmonton exhibits associated with failure investigations;
- managing project costs, budgets, and expenditures to ensure investigations are completed efficiently and within established budgets; and
- participating in business development and client relationship activities, including client meetings, lunches, presentations, and other marketing activities as required.

Requirements:

- 5 years’ engineering experience; consulting engineering experience is a strong asset.
- Licensed as a Skilled Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta or qualified to apply for licensure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional integrity and ethical conduct.
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as in a small group.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Capable of working in all weather conditions, climbing, and performing tasks at heights or within confined spaces.
- Ability to travel throughout western Canada for investigations (1-2 days away for an investigation is typical).
- Valid driver’s license and possess a reliable vehicle that can be used to attend investigation sites.
