Description:

· As a member of a high performing healthcare team, the Medical Office Assistant utilizes knowledge of effective medical office workflow to support to primary care physicians, learners, specialists and allied health professionals.

· Permanent, full-time, daytime

Main Responsibilities/Duties (but not limited to):

- Ensures the provision of optimum patient care.
- Attending to the needs of patient by booking appointments with physicians and other health care providers and specialists, using the electronic medical record.
- Skilled in the administration of injections/immunizations
- Communicating with patients and other health care workers on behalf of the physician, when necessary.
- Operates a variety of office equipment such as but not limited to: Apple computers, PS Suite EMR, fax machine, photocopier, scanner.
- Compiling and processing medical information using electronic medical records
- Ordering of office supplies and medical supplies
- Some data entry may be required.
- Performs other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

Performance Requirements:

- Demonstrate a commitment to the delivery of excellent patient care
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of general office practices, procedures and standards
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, providers, learners, clinical staff and patients.
- Maintains patient confidentiality




- Ensures efficient operation of the office, within scope of authority
- Produces accurate, high-quality work, ensuring patient records are complete and accurate
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy; effectively prioritizing tasks
- Ability to work individually or as part of a team

Qualifications:

- Minimum Post-secondary Medical Office/ Health Administration program, including medical terminology OR minimum of 2 years experience in similar position
- Excellent telephone, computer systems skills and word processing skills – including good proficiency in Microsoft Office Environment (word, excel)
- Ability to use good judgment in assessing and/or responding to difficult situations
- Experience using TELUS PS Suite EMR a strong asset
