Position Summary The Millwright / Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure. This role supports equipment reliability, production efficiency, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance through predictive and preventative maintenance, repairs, facility maintenance, and coordination of external service providers.
The successful candidate will provide hands-on maintenance support across the facility, perform predictive and preventative and corrective maintenance, identify opportunities for improvement, and coordinate with external contractors and service providers as required.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment and Facility Maintenance
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs in a timely manner.
- Inspect machinery and building systems to identify wear, damage, safety hazards, or reliability concerns.
- Assist with equipment installations, relocations, upgrades, and facility improvement projects.
- Support the shop floor by minimizing downtime and improving equipment reliability.
- Investigate recurring equipment issues and recommend solutions to improve long-term reliability.
Preventative Maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance according to established schedules.
- Conduct routine inspections and equipment condition monitoring.
- Identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement of maintenance programs and procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Contractor and Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate repairs, inspections, preventative maintenance, and projects with external contractors and service providers.
- Review contractor reports and ensure recommended corrective actions are completed.
- Obtain quotations and recommendations for repairs and maintenance services as required.
- Ensure contractors comply with company safety requirements while on site.
Building Maintenance
- Perform general building and facility maintenance.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance for building systems and infrastructure.
- Identify facility improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability.
- Assist with seasonal and emergency facility maintenance requirements.
Health, Safety, and Environmental
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Comply with lockout/tagout and energy isolation requirements.
- Use required PPE and maintain safe work practices at all times.
- Support environmental compliance, spill prevention, and good housekeeping standards.
- Participate in safety inspections, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial equipment systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and mechanical drawings.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience is an asset.
- Experience coordinating contractors and service providers is an asset.
- Forklift and aerial lift experience or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
