Your Opportunity The role of the Mission Critical Design Engineer is to work independently and as a team member on projects of various size and complexity. The selected candidate will be responsible for design delivery and to collaborate with other disciplines. The projects that a Mission Critical Design Engineer may be assigned to may have complex features that will require the application of mature knowledge.

The Stantec Alberta North Community Development group provides services within the City of Edmonton and surrounding region, City of Red Deer, as well as central and northern Alberta.

Your Key Responsibilities

- Be responsible for the Engineering drawings encompassing site grading and site servicing including water distribution, sanitary sewers, storm water management, shallow utilities coordination, and erosion control design.
- Coordinate with various technical disciplines, including but not limited to, offsite roadway design, offsite water and wastewater infrastructure, and environmental services, on delivery of design drawings and technical requirements.
- Technical review of engineering design drawings.
- Preparation of construction specifications.
- Provide internal peer review of designs by other engineers/technologists.
- Interface between projects’ design and construction teams.
- Review construction submittals to ensure adherence with the design drawings.




- Work closely with the field review team to assist in technical design queries.
- Develop design procedures and best practices for Mission Critical projects.
- Ensure projects meet applicable specifications and standards as per the governing municipality and adhere to Stantec’s QA/QC program.
- Coordinate work of junior engineering team members and review their deliverables.
- Patriciate in other land development projects, such as residential and commercial, to support the overall Community Development team as needed.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
