Avalon Holographics

Edmonton

At Avalon Holographics, we’re building advanced holographic display technology that allows people to experience and understand 3D information without headsets or glasses!

Our Edmonton team is helping develop the technologies and fabrication processes that will move Avalon toward the next generation of our holographic displays, including our flat-panel display platform.

We’re looking for a Nanotechnologist to work hands-on with our fabrication and engineering teams to develop, operate, optimize, and characterize microfabrication processes and devices. You’ll spend much of your time in the lab running processes, working with specialized equipment, analyzing results, troubleshooting problems, and helping us build more repeatable and scalable fabrication processes.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work and wants to help turn new technology into something we're building!

What You’ll Do

- Operate and support microfabrication processes used in the development of Avalon’s display technology.
- Work with engineers and fabrication specialists to develop, test, and improve fabrication processes.
- Process wafers and devices through various fabrication steps and perform material and device characterization.
- Collect and analyze process data to identify issues, variation, and opportunities for improvement.
- Troubleshoot fabrication processes, equipment, and unexpected results.
- Operate, maintain, and qualify fabrication and characterization equipment.
- Maintain accurate process documentation and experimental records.
- Follow cleanroom, chemical handling, equipment, and laboratory safety procedures.
- Support new processes and technical priorities as our flat-panel technology continues to develop.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

- Diploma or degree in Nanotechnology Systems, Engineering Technology, Materials Science, Microelectronics, Semiconductor Technology, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience in a cleanroom, fabrication lab, semiconductor environment, or similar technical setting.
- Strong attention to detail and an appreciation for process consistency and accurate documentation.
- A practical troubleshooting mindset and willingness to dig into problems that may not have an obvious answer.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary technical team.
- Curiosity and adaptability as our technology, processes, and equipment continue to evolve.
- Ability to work in person in Edmonton, Alberta.

Nice to Have

- Experience with photolithography, PVD, PECVD, ALD, high-vacuum systems, wet chemistry processing, or thin-film processing.
- Experience with wafer processing, semiconductor devices, or material and device characterization.
- Exposure to process development, process control, or improving the repeatability of fabrication processes.

If you enjoy working hands-on in the lab, solving challenging fabrication problems, and want to help build the technology behind the next generation of holographic displays, we’d love to hear from you!
