As a Consultant at RDH, you will support new construction and existing building projects while developing your experience in building science and building enclosure consulting. Your work will include a mix of design reviews, site visits, building investigations, technical documentation, and construction support.
You will work alongside experienced professionals and take on increasing responsibility as you grow, with opportunities to pursue Professional Engineering licensure and develop into project management or technical leadership roles
Key Responsibilities
- Participate as part of the RDH team from concept design through implementation on new construction and existing building projects.
- Assist with building enclosure design reviews, including review of drawings, details, specifications, and construction documents.
- Participate in design and project meetings with owners, developers, architects, contractors, and other consultants.
- Perform site visits to review building enclosure construction and document observations relative to project requirements.
- Assist with building enclosure investigations to identify and evaluate issues related to water penetration, air leakage, condensation, durability, and overall building performance.
- Review architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings and other project documentation to understand existing conditions and identify areas of potential risk.
- Assist with field testing, mock-up reviews, and other evaluations of building enclosure assemblies and components.
- Prepare site visit reports, technical reports, field documentation, presentations, and other project deliverables.
- Research building materials, assemblies, and technical solutions and assist senior staff in developing recommendations for clients.
- Assist with the preparation of construction documents for building enclosure renewal and rehabilitation projects.
- Support field review and contract administration activities during construction.
- Communicate and collaborate with clients, contractors, consultants, and other members of the project team.
- Follow RDH quality standards, technical procedures, and internal processes.
- Participate in internal learning, training, and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in building science, building enclosure design, construction, and building performance.
- Previous experience through co-op, internship, research, construction, or building science consulting is an asset but not required.
- Field or construction experience is an asset.
- Eligibility to enroll in an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) program is preferred but not required.

Benefits and Perks
The base salary range for this position is $65,000–$80,000 annualized for a full-time role. Salary is dependent on various factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for discretionary incentives and share ownership. We offer a robust benefits package to support the well-being of our employees. This includes 401(k) contributions, Health and Dental coverage, Primary Caregiver benefits, Vacation and Sick Time, Statutory Holiday substitutions, and a learning fund of $1,000 per year for education or career goals.
