Position Overview

We are seeking dependable Telecom Field Technicians for on-demand assignments throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Contractors will support telecommunications installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and service calls at residential and commercial client sites.

Work is offered based on client demand, location, and contractor availability. Regular hours are not guaranteed.

Responsibilities

- Implement and maintain fibre, Ethernet, and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) networks.
- Install, splice, terminate, crimp, test, and troubleshoot fibre-optic, copper twisted-pair, and Ethernet cabling.
- Install and deploy optical line terminals (OLTs), IPTV set-top boxes, routers, wireless access points, network switches, and powerline adapters.
- Configure network equipment and complete firmware updates when required.
- Diagnose connectivity issues, cabling faults, service interruptions, and equipment failures.
- Complete work orders, site documentation, incident reports, fault reports, and inventory records.
- Communicate professionally with clients, operations personnel, and network teams.
- Explain service activities and technical issues clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Follow site procedures, safety requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience in telecom, low-voltage cabling, fibre optics, structured cabling, or network installation.
- Experience with fibre splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with copper cabling, Ethernet, routers,



switches, wireless access points, IPTV equipment, and OLT devices.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, cable testers, and fibre-testing equipment.
- Solid troubleshooting, communication, time-management, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Relevant technical or safety certifications are an asset.

Mandatory Requirements

- Valid Ontario driver’s licence.
- Reliable personal vehicle and willingness to travel throughout the GTA.
- Smartphone with calling, email, messaging, GPS, and internet access.
- Basic field-service tools and appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
- Ability to meet client identification, safety, screening, or background-check requirements where applicable.
- Availability for on-call assignments, which may include evenings, weekends, and urgent service calls.

Contractor Arrangement

- Independent contractor opportunity.
- On-demand assignments throughout Toronto and the GTA.
- Assignments may vary in location, duration, scope, and frequency.
- Contractors may accept or decline assignments based on availability.
- Compensation will be confirmed before each assignment and may be hourly, per service call, or project-based.
- Travel, parking, and material reimbursement terms will be communicated for each assignment.
- No minimum number of assignments or hours is guaranteed.
