Operations Resiliency Analyst – Business Continuity & Runbooks
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operations Resiliency Analyst to support the development, assessment, and ongoing maintenance of business continuity and operational resiliency documentation.
The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, third-party vendors, and resiliency partners to review existing business runbooks and Business Continuity Plans (BCPs), identify gaps, update procedures, and develop new vendor-specific runbooks.
This role requires a strong understanding of DDS, business continuity principles, operational dependencies, recovery procedures, and the documentation required to ensure critical business services can continue or recover effectively following a disruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze existing business continuity plans, operational resiliency runbooks, and recovery procedures to assess completeness, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Update and enhance existing business runbooks to reflect current processes, dependencies, escalation paths, recovery procedures, roles, responsibilities, and contact information.
- Develop new vendor-specific resiliency and business continuity runbooks, documenting how critical third-party services will be managed during operational disruptions.
- Maintain a strong understanding of DDS and apply DDS requirements and standards when reviewing, developing, and maintaining business continuity documentation.
- Work with business units to identify critical business services, processes, applications, vendors, resources, and operational dependencies that must be considered within continuity and recovery plans.
- Analyze existing documentation to identify gaps, outdated information, inconsistencies, missing dependencies, or unclear recovery procedures and work with stakeholders to remediate them.
- Facilitate working sessions with business owners, SMEs, technology teams, vendor managers, and third-party providers to gather information required to develop and validate runbooks.
- Document clear incident response,
escalation, communication, workaround, recovery, and restoration procedures for business operations.
- Ensure vendor runbooks clearly identify responsibilities and dependencies between internal business teams and external service providers.
- Support periodic reviews, exercises, walkthroughs, and testing of Business Continuity Plans and runbooks.
- Capture findings from resiliency exercises and operational incidents and incorporate lessons learned into updated plans and procedures.
- Maintain appropriate document governance, version control, approvals, and evidence demonstrating that continuity documentation is regularly reviewed and kept current.
- Provide status reporting on runbook completion, identified gaps, remediation activities, risks, dependencies, and outstanding actions.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Business Continuity, Operational Resilience, Disaster Recovery, Business Operations, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience reviewing, analyzing, creating, and updating business continuity plans and operational runbooks.
- High level of understanding and practical experience working with DDS requirements, processes, or standards.
- Experience developing vendor or third-party business continuity and resiliency documentation.
- Strong understanding of Business Continuity Planning, operational resilience, incident management, recovery planning, and business impact considerations.
- Experience identifying and documenting critical business processes and their supporting people, technology, facilities, vendors, and operational dependencies.
- Ability to analyze existing documentation, identify gaps,
and translate findings into clear and actionable procedures.
- Robust documentation and technical/business writing skills with the ability to create detailed, structured, and easy-to-follow runbooks.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience conducting working sessions and gathering information from business and technical SMEs.
- Ability to manage multiple runbooks, stakeholders, deliverables, and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience within banking, financial services, or another highly regulated enterprise environment.
- Experience supporting enterprise Business Continuity Management (BCM) or Operational Resilience programs.
- Experience working with third-party/vendor risk and resiliency programs.
- Familiarity with Business Impact Assessments (BIAs), Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs), Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs), critical service dependencies, and recovery strategies.
- Experience participating in tabletop exercises, business continuity simulations, disaster recovery exercises, or operational resiliency testing.
- Familiarity with governance, risk, compliance, and audit requirements related to business continuity and operational resilience.
