We are looking for a Paralegal to join our growing team! The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented & have practical Paralegal experience in corporate and litigation. They will be responsible for the day-to-day legal administration of the Company.

Position: In-House Paralegal

Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000

Expected Start date

: As soon as possible

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

- Lead the in-house Legal function in accordance with the Company’s expectations
- Handle all aspects of litigation on behalf of the Company in Small Claims Court and Tribunals, including the drafting and filing of legal documents and attending hearings as the Company’s legal representative
- Handle all aspects of enforcing court judgments against various parties including garnishment of wages and seizure and sale
- Provide structure, cadence, pace, and direction to the legal function
- Manage legal projects from start to finish in the following areas: Property Management, Real Estate, Contracts and Civil Litigation
- Report jointly to the President & CEO




- Have daily interaction with other key stakeholders and clients and 3 rd party lawyers
- Perform legal and records research
- Work with skip tracing and legal servicing company
- Prepare written reports and correspondence, and draft legal documents including agreements, minute book, contracts, and legal memoranda
- Check and edit legal forms and documents for accuracy
- Build and maintain databases and files, and maintain our legal database
- Co-ordinate legal activities such as document delivery, execution of documents, etc.
- Carry out expert legal studies, research and technical analysis, and act as the resource person for delivering solutions and action plans upon management approval
- Ensure confidentiality of all company & client information
- Assist with other clerical duties such as: data entry, archiving & maintaining company records
- Assist with legal administrative work with our affiliated Real Estate Legal Division as needed, in the event of absences or work overflow
- Corporate Legal Matters: Support corporate legal matters as required, including corporate records, agreements, filings, governance documentation, and other related matters that may arise.
- Legal File Management: Maintain organized, accurate, and up-to-date legal files, deadlines, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
- Court & Tribunal Support: Track procedural deadlines, prepare supporting materials, and coordinate filings, service, and hearing requirements.
- Client & Third-Party Follow-Up: Maintain timely follow-up with clients, opposing parties, counsel, courts, tribunals, and service providers.
- Additional Legal Matters: Assist with any other legal, regulatory, corporate, litigation, administrative, or compliance matters arising based on the evolving needs of the Company.

Qualifications:

- Must possess a valid Paralegal License and be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Minimum College Diploma in Paralegal studies, and a bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred
- Must have a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a Paralegal role, ideally with a blend of full-service law firm and in-house experience (payment industry experience considered an asset)
- Must have substantial experience with proceedings at the Landlord and Tenant Board and Small Claims Court
- Thorough knowledge of legal research techniques, legal principles, practices, and provincial and federal laws
- Relevant computer software knowledge and experience




- Must be flexible to come in early or stay late with little or no advance notice when office is busy
- Excellent technology skills in using all Microsoft Suite Software’s including, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel, Outlook, Google Chrome, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to express ideas and procedures clearly and concisely; ability to work with highly sensitive information
- Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, sums, drop-downs, PivotTables, Macros, etc.
- Resides in close proximity to the office in Vaughan (preferred)

- Unwavering Confidence: They project authority and belief in their service/product, which instantly builds trust and credibility with prospects and team.
- Effective communication involves conveying your message clearly, concisely and accurately with an advanced level of the English Language
- Technical Proficiency, must type a min of 50 words/minute and advanced in excel with MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel, Outlook, Google Chrome, etc.
- Must own a vehicle and have full access at all times
- Mandatory attendance at Company Annual Events

Work Schedule:

- Regular Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Evening & Weekend Availability: Must be available outside regular hours as required for client meetings, appointments, urgent legal matters, and file closings.
- In-Office Position: This is an in-office role; work from home is not available.
