Willingdon Seed Cleaning Co-operative Ltd. is seeking a reliable and organized Part-Time Bookkeeper to assist with the day-to-day financial and administrative needs of the Co-operative.
Willingdon Seed Cleaning Co-operative is a farmer-owned agricultural co-operative serving producers in the Willingdon and surrounding area. Our facility provides seed cleaning and related services to local farms and operates with a small, hands-on team. The Bookkeeper works closely with management and plays an important role in keeping the Co-operative’s financial and administrative records accurate and up to date.
This position is expected to average approximately 4 hours per week over the year, with lighter hours during the summer and increased hours during our busy season. Scheduling can be flexible; however, preference will be given to candidates who are able to commit to a consistent weekday each week.
The position is for an indeterminate period with no fixed end date.
Responsibilities
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Entering and processing invoices, payments, and deposits
- Preparing customer statements and following up on outstanding accounts
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Payroll processing and related remittances
- GST and other government remittances
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping and general ledger records
- Assisting with month-end and year-end accounting
- Preparing financial information and reports for management and the Board
- Preparing and organizing documentation for the Co-operative’s external Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) to complete year-end financial statements, tax filings, and audit requirements
- Working with the Co-operative’s external accountant and auditor as required
- Attending Board meetings as required and preparing accurate meeting minutes
- Maintaining organized financial and administrative records
- General office and administrative support as required
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Experience with QuickBooks
- Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook
- Strong general computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Additional Skills Considered an Asset Experience or familiarity with any of the following would be beneficial but is not required:
- Microsoft Excel
- Adobe Acrobat
- Dayforce / Powerpay or similar payroll software
- Marketing or basic promotional work
- WordPress
- Mailchimp or similar email marketing platforms

Pre-Employment Requirement: The successful candidate will be required to complete a satisfactory criminal record check as a condition of employment. This position may be particularly well suited to an experienced bookkeeper looking for a small, flexible role with a high degree of independence. There may also be opportunities for the role and responsibilities to expand over time.
