Role Description The Payroll Representative is a full-time, on-site role based in New Westminster, BC. This role is responsible for processing payroll accurately and on schedule, including calculating earnings, deductions, benefits, and overtime for a diverse workforce.
The Payroll
Representative manages garnishments and other statutory deductions, maintains payroll records, and responds to employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits, and related policies. Day-to-day tasks include verifying payroll data, resolving discrepancies, collaborating with HR and finance teams, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and organizational standards.
The role also involves delivering courteous, timely customer service and clear communication to staff across Fraser Health.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Payroll Administration and Payroll Services, with experience processing multi-employee payrolls and maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledge and practical experience with Garnishments and statutory deductions, including compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Effective Communication and Customer Service skills, with the ability to explain payroll information clearly and support employees in a professional, empathetic manner.
- Attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and proficiency with payroll software and related HR/finance systems.
- Understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and standards, ideally within a unionized or large public-sector environment.
- Ability to work on-site in New Westminster, BC, manage confidential information responsibly, and collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Relevant post-secondary education or payroll certification (e.g., PCP from the National Payroll Institute) is an asset.
- Previous experience in healthcare or a complex organizational setting is considered beneficial.
