Personal Support Worker (PSW) – Private In-Home Care/1:1 Support (PART TIME)

Pay: $24.00 per hour on weekdays | $26.00 per hour on weekends

Variety of shifts and hours depending on candidate availability.

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our private home care team supporting one 90 year old male living with dementia in his own home.

This role focuses on providing consistent, respectful, and personalized support while promoting the client’s safety, comfort, independence, and overall quality of life. The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, reliable, and experienced in working with seniors with dementia.

You will work as part of a small, dedicated care team to provide daily support and companionship while helping maintain a safe, comfortable, and familiar home environment.

Responsibilities

- Assist the client with activities of daily living, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility as required
- Provide dementia-focused care, including reassurance, redirection, routine support, and appropriate responses to confusion or changes in behaviour
- Provide mobility assistance and supervision to promote safety and reduce fall risk
- Support medication routines in accordance with established instructions and documentation procedures




- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks based on the client’s preferences and dietary needs
- Provide companionship and meaningful social interaction throughout the shift
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including laundry, dishes, cleaning living areas, and maintaining an organized home environment
- Observe the client for changes in behaviour, mobility, appetite, sleep, or overall well-being and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate team member
- Complete required care documentation accurately and consistently

Qualifications

- Previous experience providing care to seniors in a private home, retirement residence, long-term care, or similar setting is preferred
- Personal Support Worker (PSW) certification or equivalent education/experience is preferred
- Current First Aid and CPR certification & Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
- Solid understanding of dementia care, fall prevention, and senior safety
- Comfortable preparing meals and completing light household duties
- Reliable and punctual with strong attention to detail
- Teamwork and communication skills

Typical shifts: 9AM-2PM

2PM-8PM

Weekends as needed.

Transportation

Candidates must have reliable access to their own transportation.
