Senior Pipe Stress Engineer

Location: North East Calgary, AB

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Reports To: Lead/Senior Engineer or Engineering Manager

Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Pipe Stress Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will perform pipe stress analysis for process piping systems within modular facilities , ensuring designs meet applicable codes, client requirements, and project deliverables.

This position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects in a fast-paced EPC setting, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including piping, mechanical, structural, and project engineering.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform static and dynamic pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II or similar tools in accordance with ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, and other relevant codes
- Review and approve piping isometrics, support designs, and equipment nozzle loads
- Design and evaluate pipe support systems (spring hangers, anchors, expansion loops, etc.)
- Assess equipment nozzle loads against vendor limits and coordinate solutions with mechanical teams
- Provide technical guidance to piping designers to ensure stress-compliant system layouts




- Collaborate with structural teams on support attachment and load transfer requirements
- Participate in design reviews and hazard assessments (HAZOPs)
- Prepare engineering calculations, reports, and technical documentation
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and client specifications throughout the project lifecycle
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering function

Qualifications

Required:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- P.Eng. designation (Alberta) or eligibility to register
- Minimum 5+ years of pipe stress analysis experience in oil & gas or industrial environments
- Strong proficiency with CAESAR II
- Solid knowledge of ASME piping codes (B31.3, etc.)
- Ability to interpret P&IDs;, isometrics, and general arrangement drawings
- Robust communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical findings

Preferred:

- Experience with AutoPIPE or similar tools
- Familiarity with COMPRESS or PV Elite
- Exposure to high-pressure, cryogenic, or multiphase systems
- Background in modularized or EPC project environments
