Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced DB2 PL/SQL Developer to design, develop, enhance, and support database applications for a banking environment. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in DB2, SQL, PL/SQL/stored procedures, database performance tuning, and production support, with an understanding of banking applications and business processes.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain DB2 database applications supporting banking and financial systems.

Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database programs.

Work closely with business analysts and application development teams to understand banking business requirements.

Analyze and develop database solutions for applications related to payments, accounts, transactions, loans, deposits, and customer information.

Perform SQL query optimization and database performance tuning to improve application response times.

Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide support for development, testing, and production environments.

Analyze DB2 application failures, SQL errors, locks, deadlocks, and performance issues.

Work with large volumes of transactional data while ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency.

Develop and execute unit test cases and support system integration and user acceptance testing.

Participate in database design, data modeling, and implementation of new application enhancements.

Collaborate with mainframe and distributed application teams for DB2 integration.

Support production deployments, incident resolution, root cause analysis, and problem management activities.

Follow banking security, compliance, audit, and data governance standards.





Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.

Document technical designs, database objects, SQL programs, and production support procedures.

Work in an Agile environment and participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and release activities.

Required Skills

Strong experience with IBM DB2 databases.

Strong knowledge of SQL and stored procedure development.

Experience writing complex queries involving joins, subqueries, CTEs, and analytical functions.

Experience with DB2 performance tuning and SQL optimization.

Knowledge of indexes, tablespaces, locking, concurrency, and database recovery concepts.

Experience troubleshooting SQLCODEs, DB2 errors, deadlocks, and locking issues.

Understanding of database design and data modeling concepts.

Experience supporting applications in development, QA, UAT, and production environments.

Knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and version control tools.

Solid analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

Banking or financial services domain experience.

Experience with DB2 for z/OS or DB2 LUW.

Knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS, and mainframe applications.

Experience with DB2 utilities such as RUNSTATS, REORG, LOAD, UNLOAD, and RECOVER.

Experience with production support and incident management tools.

Knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL is an added advantage.

Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and automated database deployments.

Understanding of banking systems related to payments, wire transfers, ACH, cards, loans, deposits, or customer accounts.

Experience

Typically 5+ years of experience in DB2/SQL/database development.

Banking or financial services experience preferred.
