Description The School of Public Policy is currently seeking a Full-time Staff Limited Term (Project) Program Manager, Research and Public Survey-New North America Initiative (NNAI) for approximately 19 months.

The Program Manager has overall responsibility for ensuring that NNAI deliverables are met and activities are executed.

Travel in Canada and North America will be required.

The term of the position is full-time, limited term externally funded project-based and involves working 5 days in the School of Public Policy. The workday is Monday to Friday.

Primary Purpose of the Position (key purpose, functions, roles):

Reporting to the Director, International Policy at the School of Public Policy, this role will work as part of a dedicated New North America Initiative (NNAI) team to ensure on-time and high-quality delivery of objectives and deliverables. This work will include a wide range of activities, including project management, research, writing, correspondence, relationship management, event design, organization and execution. This position will be overseeing public opinion studies, survey design methodologies and analysis of quantitative data for the project.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

- Responsible for overseeing public opinion studies, survey design methodologies and analysis quantitative data for the project;
- Update and proactively ensure that the public polling work plans advance on schedule;
- Full managerial discretion (up to and including discipline and termination) for all direct reports;
- Supervise junior staff in managing relations with Supply Chain Management (SCM) in competitive bidding processes, including drafting RFPs, tender notices, and supplier evaluations for procuring external polling vendors;
- Responsible for managing annual project budget allocated for public polling (~$300,000/annually);
- Guides junior staff in monitoring public polling expenditures for the project and traces budget variances to prevent overruns;
- Represent the NNAI and present polling research at public events;
- Conducting research and preparing written briefs and reports for NNAI-related issues;
- Provide other support for NNAI and China-Indo Pacific teammates as needed;
- Being open to consider requests to provide support for other events and initiatives of the School of Public Policy;
- Participate in a weekly in-person meeting with NNAI staff;




- Perform other work as requested by the Director of Internal Policy and the Director of the SPP.

Qualifications / Requirements

- Advanced degree in field related to survey design, quantitative skills related to survey analysis and design, some experience in applying these skills to North American issues
- Knowledge of the community of North American scholars and think tanks;
- Experience working with senior government and private sector officials;
- Some professional writing and research on North American issues;
- Proactive individual who takes the initiative and has the maturity and experience to know when to ask for guidance
- Strong attention to detail. A significant responsibility of this position is to ensure on-time, high-quality, error-free outcomes.
- Experience working with high-level public events with senior government officials, including some experience or familiarity with diplomatic protocol;
- Robust public speaking skill;
- Team player who enjoys working with others;
- High degree of proficiency with MS Office, AI and quantitative software;
- Commitment to the practicalities of the role and able to devote the time required.
