The Avionics
CoE is responsible for the design and evolution of the Flight Deck and our current and future aircraft. The team reviews and evaluates the evolution of conventional systems architectures and emerging new technologies to propose innovative architectures and processes to enable an efficient evolution of our systems integration on our aircraft. Develop knowledge and expertise on Highly Integrated Control Systems and Distributed Integrated Modular Architectures.
Apply DO297 guidelines to help structure IMA development, safety and certification plans in collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliers. Use the integrated tool chain to build and test IMA Applications on the virtual test bench and with hardware in the loop. Define standards for validation, verification and functional testing.
Collaborate with the Project Lead to provide regular updates about progress, design evolution risks, issues and roadblocks. Provide technical direction and recommendations in design reviews covering hardware, software,
data network aspects and development processes. Prepare technical documentation and reports capturing analysis, results and recommending next steps.
Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and interns. University degree in computer, software, electrical or aerospace engineering.
Experience with complex aircraft systems development and integration. Strong experience with aerospace communication protocols (AFDX, ARINC 429, ARINC 664p7, ARINC 661). Familiarity with networking protocols and related software development (UDP/IP, Ethernet).
Experience with Embedded RTOS (VxWorks 653) is an asset.
Experience with software development for critical real‑time embedded systems, distributed systems and related technologies. Robust engineering judgment, problem‑solving skills, accountability, positive attitude and strong communication skills. Excellent oral presentation and technical writing skills in English and good functional French communication skills.
Understanding of aircraft systems integration at aircraft level, ground and flight test aspects, component qualification, reliability and safety requirements, and FAR Part 25 / CAR 525 certification processes. This position has a hybrid work schedule and requires 3 mandatory days per week in the Bombardier office in Montreal.
