We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Property Accountant to join our accounting team.

The Property Accountant is responsible for full-cycle financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial and residential income-producing properties. This role supports accurate and timely property accounting through Yardi and includes maintaining tenant move-in and move-out records, processing tenant refunds, scanning and distributing documents to investors, and completing other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and hands-on experience using Yardi in a property-management accounting environment.

Position Overview

As a member of the Accounting and Finance team, the Property Accountant will perform duties related to financial reporting, HST reporting, rental receipts, revenue, accounts receivable, disbursements, expenses, accounts payable, owners’ capital accounts, and other accounting activities supporting the company’s property-management and brokerage-sales operations.

Required Qualifications and Skills The successful candidate will have:





- A minimum of three years of hands-on experience using Yardi.
- Experience with Yardi Voyager and/or Yardi accounting modules.
- A fundamental understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Knowledge of Space software, or the ability to learn the software through employer-provided training.
- Solid time-management and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple inquiries, recurring responsibilities, and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities Responsibilities will be assigned by the supervisor and may include:

- Preparing full-cycle financial statements and related reporting for an assigned portfolio of commercial and residential properties.
- Receiving and processing rental receipts, including coding, posting, filing, and maintaining supporting documentation.
- Maintaining accurate tenant move-in and move-out information, account adjustments, and tenant refunds in Yardi.
- Processing cheques and supporting payment administration.
- Assisting with cash management activities related to disbursements.




- Coordinating monthly financial reporting packages for property owners and investors.
- Preparing and remitting statutory payments to applicable governing bodies.
- Supporting accounts receivable, revenue, expenses, accounts payable, HST reporting, and owners’ capital account activities.
- Maintaining electronic property and investor records, including scanning and distributing documentation as required.
- Completing other duties as delegated by the supervisor.

Assets

- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related discipline.
- Commercial real estate and/or residential property-management experience.
- An understanding of U.S. accounting standards and practices.
