The Prospect

The Facilities, Reliability & Integrity (FRI) team provides technical governance and expertise for technical disciplines that are critical to the design, construction and operation of TC Energy assets. The team comprises technical subject matter expertise to resolve the most complex problems across the enterprise and influence external industry codes and standards that support TC Energy's business.

The team is evolving to meet the demands of the business and the Facilities and Reliability mandate. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer who has deep industry experience and technical knowledge in the mechanical engineering design, commissioning and operations of reciprocating and turbomachinery compression equipment. In addition, we are looking for asset management and reliability centered maintenance expertise to advance our maintenance strategies.

The successful candidate will have proven skills and competencies to act as a technical authority on reciprocating equipment and turbomachinery standards, adviseBU engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues, assure the effectiveness and improve specifications and standards, and represent TC Energy on code committees and industry forums to influence industry requirements and recommended practices.

What you'll do

- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for engineering specification and standards relating to the pre-qualification, design,



commissioning, operation, maintenance and repair of reciprocating equipment and turbomachinery on TC Energy assets. Assets supported will be across our natural gas pipeline business units in Canada, US, and Mexico
- Resolve internal variance requests and feedback submissions on reciprocating equipment and turbomachinery standards and specifications
- Maintain and improve engineering standards based on performance information such as variance trends, feedback, incident corrective actions, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with Technical Services teams to maintain and report an enterprise view of key technical risks and performance relating to the reciprocating and turbomachinery equipment and connected systems
- Monitor critical activities across the enterprise, and support and implement assurance activities to verify that standards are managing key technical risks.
- As part of assurance activities, provide independent peer review of project deliverables to evaluate the compliance, quality and value of engineering delivery and implementation of turbomachinery standards
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert on a cross functional team advancing the enterprise probabilistic reliability modelling framework, data collection techniques and asset management strategies




- Quantify site and fleet-level operational reliability/availability gaps as it compares to the commercial requirements to meet throughput demand and enable value-based maintenance capital allocation across large pipeline facility infrastructure
- Explore industry best practices and commercially available RAM-Performance modeling tools to model the facilities including a data driven framework for maintenance, upgrade and obsolescence strategy to improve reliability while optimizing cost, risk, and performance as a future step.
- Act as the business owner of enterprise tools that support the implementation of performance management and long term maintenance strategy of reciprocating equipment and turbomachinery
- Collaborate with and provide technical advisory support to project engineering teams, engineering service providers and equipment vendors on complex technical issues relating to reciprocating equipment and turbomachinery in project and construction phases
- Advise BUs on procurement strategies, pre-qualification, contractual relationships, and performance management of key reciprocating and turbomachinery vendors
- Initiate and lead research and development projects to improve equipment design, engineering standards and/or methods

Minimum Qualifications

- University degree in Mechanical Engineering and professional engineer (P. Eng. or PE) designation with applicable governing body
- Registered, or eligible to register, with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive relevant experience
- In depth knowledge of applicable industry regulations, codes and standards applicable to turbomachinery and relevant ancillary support systems
- Experience in the development and management of engineering standards, specifications and procedures
- Technical experience in engineering desig
