About the Practice
Dr. Mike Roskies is a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon providing specialized surgical care in Yorkville. The Post-Operative Recovery Program provides patients with dedicated nursing care, clinical oversight and personalized support following plastic surgery.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced (RN or RPN) to provide dedicated, one-on-one post-operative care to facelift patients.
This position requires the NURSE to remain with the assigned patient for a continuous 12-hour recovery period following surgery, providing nursing care in the patient's home or designated place of recovery.
The ideal candidate is confident in post-operative assessment, medication administration, wound care and recognizing potential complications, while also providing a calm, compassionate and highly professional patient experience.
The nurse will work closely with Dr. Roskies and the clinic team to ensure safe, seamless and personalized post-operative care.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Post-Operative Care
- Provide dedicated one-on-one nursing care throughout the patient's 12-hour recovery period.
- Perform ongoing clinical assessments and overall recovery.
- Assess pain, nausea, hydration, mobility and patient comfort.
- Monitor surgical sites, dressings and drains as appropriate.
- Provide wound care according to Dr. Roskies' instructions and within scope of practice.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and the patient's care plan.
- Provide medication reminders and medication management support.
- Monitor for signs of infection, bleeding, hematoma or other post-operative complications.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly escalate concerns to clinical team
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Personal Care & Recovery Support
- Assist with bathing, hygiene and dressing as appropriate.
- Provide mobility assistance and support safe ambulation.
- Assist with hydration, nutrition, positioning and comfort.
- Support patients with routine daily activities while they are temporarily limited following surgery (i.e. walking)
- Provide companionship and reassurance throughout the recovery period.
- Maintain a calm,
professional and supportive environment for the patient.
Patient Education
- Reinforce Dr. Roskies' post-operative instructions.
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding medications, wound care, mobility, activity restrictions, hydration and recovery expectations as needed.
- Ensure patients and caregivers understand signs and symptoms requiring medical attention.
- Provide guidance and reassurance throughout the recovery period.
Communication & Care Coordination
- Maintain ongoing communication with Dr. Roskies and the clinic team regarding patient progress.
- Provide timely updates regarding changes in condition or recovery concerns.
- Communicate with designated family members or caregivers when authorized by the patient.
- Coordinate recovery-related needs as appropriate.
- Provide a clear clinical handover at the conclusion of the recovery period.
Documentation & Clinical Standards
- Complete accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical documentation.
- Document assessments, medications, interventions, wound care, patient education and relevant clinical changes.
- Follow established documentation and communication protocols.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Practice within the nurse's qualified scope and applicable regulatory requirements.
QualificationsRequired
- Current Registered Nurse RN or RPN registration in Ontario and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum 3–5 years of nursing experience.
- Demonstrated experience with post-operative patient care.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
- Experience with medication administration and wound care.
- Ability to recognize and appropriately escalate changes in patient condition.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions within scope.
- Ability and willingness to provide continuous one-on-one care for a designated 12-hour period.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to patients' places of recovery as required.
- EMR and AI knowledge is an asset
Strongly Preferred
- Experience in plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, surgical nursing, PACU/post-anesthesia recovery, perioperative nursing or another acute-care setting.
- Experience caring for facelift, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty or other elective surgical patients.
- Experience with wound care, drains and post-operative monitoring.
- Experience providing private, one-on-one or concierge-style nursing care.
- Experience working in a high-touch patient environment.

Schedule
This position requires continuous one-on-one patient care for a designated 12-hour recovery period following surgery.
The schedule will include
- 12-hour recovery shifts
- Weekend (if applicable)
- Holidays, depending on the surgical schedule
Shifts will be scheduled in advance based on the surgical and recovery calendar.
Compensation
Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
