Job Summary

RESTAURANT GENERAL MANAGER Chainsmoker Urban Halal Barbecue

Chainsmoker Urban Halal Barbecue is seeking an experienced, hands-on Restaurant General Manager who understands that managing a restaurant means much more than supervising a shift.

We are looking for someone who can manage the business behind the restaurant—its people, sales, labour, inventory, costs, administration and daily financial performance.

The General Manager will assume responsibility and accountability for the overall day-to-day operation of the restaurant and will be expected to establish the management discipline necessary to operate a successful and profitable business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The General Manager will be responsible for:

- Daily Sales & Financial Accountability – Monitor sales throughout each day, reconcile daily sales and deposits, review results against prior periods and targets, and understand what is driving increases or decreases in revenue.
- Labour Management & Scheduling – Prepare and manage schedules according to anticipated sales and operational requirements; monitor labour costs throughout the week and adjust staffing when necessary.
- Inventory & Food Cost Control – Oversee ordering, receiving and inventory; monitor usage, waste, portions and food costs; investigate unusual variances and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Cash Flow & Accounts Payable Awareness – Maintain an ongoing understanding of the restaurant's upcoming financial obligations and ensure ownership is informed well in advance of anticipated cash requirements or shortfalls.
- Daily Administration – Ensure invoices,

payroll information, schedules, deposits, reports, supplier documentation and other administrative requirements are properly maintained and completed on time.
- Staff Management & Accountability – Recruit, train, schedule, supervise and develop employees while establishing clear expectations for attendance, productivity, conduct and performance.
- Sales Building – Take an active interest in increasing restaurant sales through local store marketing, community engagement, customer retention and identification of opportunities within the restaurant's trading area.
- Operational Performance – Be physically present and actively engaged in the restaurant, particularly during important lunch, dinner and weekend periods. Identify operational problems and correct them rather than allowing them to become recurring problems.
- Management Reporting – Communicate regularly with ownership and the Franchisor regarding sales, labour, inventory, staffing, financial concerns and material operational issues. Problems are expected to be identified and reported before they become emergencies.
- Franchise Standards – Ensure the restaurant consistently operates in accordance with Chainsmoker recipes, procedures,

operating standards and brand requirements.

THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are looking for a manager who is organized, commercially minded, financially aware and comfortable being held accountable for results.

You should be capable of looking at yesterday's sales, today's staffing, this week's inventory and the restaurant's upcoming obligations and understanding how those pieces affect the profitability of the business.

This is a hands-on management position, not simply a supervisory position.

Previous restaurant management experience is strongly preferred. Experience managing food cost, labour, scheduling, inventory and restaurant financial performance will be particularly valued.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE A successful General Manager should be able to answer, at virtually any time:

How are sales performing?

Where is labour running?

Where is food cost running?

What does the restaurant need financially?

What problems require attention?

And what are we doing to improve tomorrow?

If that describes the way you manage a restaurant, we would like to hear from you.

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week

Benefits

- Discounted or free food
- In office parking
- Paid time off

Application question(s):
- Can you provide references from the last three positions held?

Experience:
- Restaurant management: 5 years (required)

Language:
- Fluent English (required)

Licence/Certification:
- Food Handler Certification (required)

Work Location: In person
