Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Salary: $60,000–$65,000 annually, based on experience
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Hours: 35 paid hours per week, excluding a 30-minute unpaid meal break

Customers can shop in-store or online and access pickup, one-hour delivery, same-day and next-day local delivery, and Canada-wide shipping.
About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Retail Store Manager to plan, direct and evaluate the operations of our Edmonton retail and e-commerce store.
The successful candidate will be responsible for store performance, employees, inventory, purchasing, customer service, online order fulfilment, operating expenses and profitability. This position requires robust leadership, sound business judgement and the ability to make effective operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the overall operations of the retail and e-commerce store.
Develop and implement operating procedures, customer-service standards and performance targets.
Monitor sales, gross margins, labour costs, operating expenses, inventory losses and store profitability.
Prepare staffing and operational plans and provide input into store budgets.
Determine inventory requirements and recommend merchandise based on sales, customer demand and market trends.
Oversee purchasing, supplier relationships, product receiving, stock counts and inventory accuracy.
Recommend and implement approved pricing, merchandising, promotional and customer-retention strategies.
Recruit, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate store employees.
Establish customer-service standards and resolve escalated customer concerns.
Direct in-store, online-order, pickup, local-delivery and Canada-wide shipping operations.
Establish controls for cash handling, refunds, discounts, inventory adjustments and system access.
Reduce stockouts, overstocking, spoilage, expiry, damage and unexplained inventory losses.
Ensure compliance with food-safety, sanitation, workplace-safety and company requirements.
Evaluate store performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
Prepare regular management reports and recommendations for the owner.
Qualifications
Completion of secondary school is required.
A diploma or degree in business administration, retail management, commerce or a related field is an asset.
Three to five years of progressive retail experience, preferably in grocery or food retail.
At least two years of management experience involving employees, inventory and store performance.
Experience managing sales, budgets, operating expenses and profitability.
Experience with purchasing, inventory control, merchandising and supplier coordination.
Experience using point-of-sale and inventory-management systems.
E-commerce, online-order fulfilment, delivery or shipping experience is an asset.
Experience with WooCommerce, YITH POS, ATUM or comparable systems is an asset.
Strong leadership, analytical, financial and decision-making skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of African grocery products and customer markets is a strong asset.
Food-safety certification is an asset or must be obtained within the required period.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Working Conditions
Regular work schedule of Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The role combines administrative responsibilities with active management on the store floor.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and safely assist with moving grocery products when reasonably required.
- Occasional availability outside the regular schedule may be required for urgent operational matters or major inventory counts.
