Position Overview

Supply Ontario is seeking a Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist to support the Health System Insights (HSI) Portal Enhancement Initiative for FY26-27.

The initiative will expand the HSI Portal into a governed enterprise business intelligence platform capable of supporting a larger and more complex reporting environment. The successful candidate will provide senior-level quality assurance and testing expertise across web applications, REST APIs, databases, and system integrations.

The resource will be responsible for developing testing strategies and plans, creating and executing test cases, managing defects, supporting integration and user acceptance testing, and collaborating closely with Software Engineers and Business Analysts throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Test Strategy &
- Planning
- Develop comprehensive QA strategies, test plans, and testing approaches based on identified business and technical requirements.
- Select appropriate testing tools and methodologies for assigned projects and features.
- Plan, organize, and estimate testing activities for large and complex systems.
- Create and estimate DevOps tasks related to QA activities.
- Ensure testing activities align with project requirements, quality standards, and SDLC processes.
- Systems &
- Application Testing
- Perform hands-on testing of Web Applications, particularly .NET-based applications.
- Develop detailed test cases covering functional and technical requirements.
- Execute test cases against application components and system features.
- Conduct testing across both Graphical User Interface (GUI) and non-GUI environments.
- Perform systems integration testing, specialized testing, connectivity testing, and error-handling validation.
- Support stress and other applicable system-level testing activities.
- REST API &
- Database Testing
- Design and execute tests for REST APIs using Postman or equivalent API testing tools.
- Validate API responses, integrations, error handling, and connectivity.
- Write and execute SQL queries to validate application and database functionality.
- Perform backend data validation and investigate data-related defects.
- Defect Management &
- Quality Assurance
- Identify, document, track, and manage defects for assigned areas.




- Perform defect analysis and collaborate with development teams to support resolution.
- Retest resolved defects and verify fixes.
- Maintain accurate QA documentation and testing evidence.
- Ensure assigned deliverables meet defined quality and acceptance criteria.
- Integration &
- User Acceptance Testing
- Plan and execute System Integration Testing (SIT) and specialized testing activities.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and participate in UAT-related activities.
- Validate connectivity and error-handling scenarios across integrated systems.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet user and business requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Software Engineers and Business Analysts throughout analysis, design, development, implementation, testing, and ongoing support.
- Communicate technical testing information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify quality risks and testing requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA and testing processes.

Required Skills &

- Experience

- 8–10 years of hands-on experience testing Web Applications, particularly .NET applications.
- 3+ years of experience testing REST APIs using Postman or equivalent tools.
- 3+ years of experience using Microsoft DevOps Test Plans.
- 3+ years of experience writing SQL queries.
- Strong experience developing and executing test cases.
- Strong experience with QA strategy and test planning.
- Experience with systems integration testing and specialized testing.
- Experience with connectivity and error-handling testing.
- Experience supporting UAT activities.
- Strong defect management and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Experience working within structured Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) environments.

Desired Skills

- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly.
- Knowledge and experience with at least one programming language.
- Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements, regulations, and standards.
- Knowledge and experience with one or more automated testing tools.
- Experience supporting and participating in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Strong understanding of all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Experience with Microsoft DevOps/TFS in support of SDLC and QA activities.
- Public Sector experience is preferred.

Key Deliverables

- Design and create Test Strategies for features based on identified requirements.
- Create and estimate DevOps Tasks for QA-related work.
- Create and execute comprehensive test cases for assigned areas.
- Perform functional, integration, API, database, and system-level testing as required.
- Identify, document, track, and manage defects for assigned areas.
- Support UAT activities and provide required testing documentation and evidence.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers and Business Analysts to ensure quality requirements are met.

Engagement &
- Work Arrangement
- The engagement is for 128 Business Days, with an option to extend for up to an additional 128 days at the Agency’s discretion.
- The assignment may also be extended for unused Business Days at the Agency’s discretion.
- The resource must comply with all Agency policies and procedures.
- The position is currently classified as Hybrid.
- The resource may be required to work onsite based on the Hiring Manager’s discretion.
- Onsite requirement: 2 days per week at the Manager’s discretion.
- Agency systems cannot be accessed from outside the Province of Ontario.
- Agency assets, including laptops and related equipment, cannot be removed from Ontario without prior written approval from the Agency.
