Role Description The School Cook is an in office role located in the Greater Vancouver Metropolitan Area and is a full-time position. This role is responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious, appealing meals that meet school guidelines and food safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include menu preparation, ingredient measuring and cooking, portioning and plating food, and setting up and maintaining serving areas.

The School

Cook ensures proper food storage, cleaning of kitchen equipment and workstations, and adherence to health and safety regulations.



The role also involves collaborating with other food service staff, supporting efficient meal service during peak times, and providing friendly, respectful service to students and school staff.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in cooking or food preparation in a commercial or institutional kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and compliance with local health regulations.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and menu plans while maintaining consistent quality.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks during busy meal periods.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with kitchen and school staff.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training or certification is an asset.
- Prior experience in school food services or child-focused environments is an advantage.
