Senior Accountant & Financial Analyst

Clip Money Inc. | Remote Position

About Clip Money

Clip is a transformative fintech solving one of the market’s biggest operational challenges: modernizing daily business cash transactions. We enable retailers and multi-location businesses to deposit cash at thousands of mall and big-box locations directly into any existing bank account through a digital-first platform.

By replacing branch dependency and reducing armored carrier costs, Clip helps enterprise retailers consolidate bank relationships, improve liquidity visibility, reduce deposit costs, and modernize treasury workflows.

The Roll

Clip Money is seeking a Senior Accountant & Financial Analyst to own the expense and liability side of our accounting close, and to support the analysis and reporting that leadership relies on.

You will close your half of the ledger and carry those numbers through to the management reporting and the board package. The opening stretch of each month focuses on the close, reconciliations, and reporting deadlines; the balance of the month turns to reporting, variance analysis, and answering the questions the numbers raise.

Scope of the Role

Accounting Ownership — Expenses & Liabilities

- Payables & Expense Cycle: Own the accounts payable and expense reporting cycle across the Canadian parent and US subsidiary, including coding, approval routing, payment runs, and corporate card administration.
- Accruals & Cut-off: Prepare month-end accruals, including unbilled vendor accruals, and take responsibility for expense cut-off accuracy.
- Debt & Lease Schedules: Maintain amortization, interest accretion, and rollforward schedules for loans and lease liabilities under IFRS 16, prepared for review.
- Reconciliations: Reconcile all liability and expense-related accounts monthly, with support that stands on its own and clears aged items rather than carrying them forward.
- Cost Coding: Maintain accurate departmental and product-level coding of costs so that management reporting starts from clean actuals.

Analysis & Reporting

- Variance Analysis: Perform monthly variance analysis (Actuals vs.

Budget/Forecast) and explain the drivers behind the results.
- Management Reporting: Assist in maintaining the monthly management reporting package and KPI dashboards, keeping them current and reconciled to the ledger.
- Budget & Forecast Support: Support the annual budget and rolling forecast by maintaining expense-related models.

Process & Partnership

- Cross-Functional: Act as the point of contact for Sales, Operations, and Product on cost and vendor questions.
- Documentation: Document and standardize close procedures and reporting processes so they scale beyond one person.
- Automation: Identify and automate the manual steps that slow the close and the reporting cycle down.

What We Need on Day One

- Close Capability: Hands-on month-end experience — you have prepared journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations yourself.
- Accounting Foundation: A working grounding in IFRS or GAAP and the judgment to know when a question needs to be escalated rather than assumed.
- Excel Strength: Strong Excel, and the confidence to work inside and extend someone else’s model without breaking it.
- Range: Demonstrated ability to move between detail work and analytical work — and the temperament to enjoy both.
- Communication: Ability to explain financial results clearly and concisely to senior leadership.

Strongly Preferred

- Designation: CPA or CPA candidate. Equivalent experience without a designation will be considered.
- Experience: Roughly 3–5 years spanning full-cycle accounting and analytical work — for example, public practice (assurance) followed by an industry finance role.
- Reporting Experience: Exposure to management reporting, budgeting, or forecast cycles.
- Systems:

QuickBooks Online or a comparable accounting system; multi-entity or multi-currency experience.
- Industry: Payments, fintech, or transaction processing.

What We Will Build With You If you arrive robust on the accounting side and lighter on the analytical side, that is expected and workable. Modeling technique, IFRS application in a listed-issuer context, consolidation mechanics, and public-company reporting rhythm are all things you can learn here with direct mentorship. What we cannot teach is the instinct to chase a number until it is right.

What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)

- Close Reliability: Your sections of the close land on the calendar every month, with reconciliations complete before results are circulated.
- Clean Support: Liability and expense schedules go to the auditors with minimal rework.
- Reporting Integrity: The monthly reporting package ties to the ledger on the first pass, and variances come with explanations rather than questions.
- Reduced Manual Load: Recurring close and reporting steps are documented and increasingly automated.

Why This Role Clip is a TSXV-listed company with a small finance team, which means the work is not partitioned into a narrow slice. You will see the close, the consolidation, the audit, and the reporting cycle from inside — and you will own real pieces of each, with direct exposure to the CFO. That combination of accounting depth and analytical range usually takes several more years and two or three job changes to assemble. Here it is one seat.

Compensation & Benefits

- Salary: To commensurate with experience.
- Benefits: Health, dental, and vision coverage.
- Time Off: 3 weeks of paid vacation, plus standard corporate holidays.
- Workspace: Fully remote setup.

How to Apply In a brief cover letter, please tell us which parts of the scope above you have done before and which you would be learning here.
