Position Summary

Our team provides specialized accounting services, audit and review engagements, compilation engagements (notice to readers), and personal/corporate taxes to small businesses and individuals.

The role of a Senior Accountant is to contribute to the growth and success of the company by collaborating with the team on day-to-day activities and assisting in the efficient and effective operation of the business.

Summary of Responsibilities

· Preparation of compilation engagements for clients in a variety of industries

· Analyzing and preparing corporate, personal, partnership and trust tax returns





· Assist with preparing supporting documents and working papers for Review and Audit engagements

· Coaching Junior and Intermediate accountants by providing input and expertise where necessary

· Actively engaging in tax compliance, planning and strategy development through analysis of client tax issues, relevant tax laws, provisions, and jurisprudence

· Assistance with tax reorganizations and estate planning

· Conducting research on tax issues and opportunities

· Proactively resolving tax related issues with clients and other staff members through direct communication, collaboration, researching and drafting responses

· Communicating with the Canada Revenue Agency on behalf of clients

· Working strategically with colleagues from various service lines

· Working directly with Partners of the firm and communicating directly with clients

· Capable of handling multiple tasks and working in high-pressure environments to successfully meet deadlines

· Reviewing the accuracy of work completed by Junior and Intermediate team members

· Deliver client services with a high degree of professionalism To qualify for the role you must have

· Completion of a University Accounting degree and completion of CPA designation or at least substantial progress (required).

· A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a public accounting firm (required).

· Technical experience and proficiency with accounting and tax software (i.e., CaseWare, Taxprep, Quickbooks, etc. ) (preferred).

· Excellent organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail

· Positive outlook with an enthusiastic manner





· Strong understanding of business professionalism and the ability to work in a team environment

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ideally, you’ll also have

· Strong accounting and tax skills, general ledger, cash receipts, cash disbursements, investment company accounting with knowledge of HST administration is an asset

· Excellent PC skills, knowledge of Taxprep and Caseware is an asset

· T4’s, T5’s, Trust and T5013 and partnership returns is an asset

· A high degree of sensitivity and professionalism with respect to the management of confidential information

· Flexibility and availability to work outside of standard business hours during peak periods

· Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.

· An ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
