We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to provide critical support to our finance team, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. This role will be responsible for managing complex accounting tasks, including month-end close processes, journal entries and account reconciliations, while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all financial operations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and the ability to work independently.
This temporary role offers the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including review of invoices, expense reports and vendor reconciliations.
- Assist with reconciliations, including support for US-based subsidiaries.
- Participate in financial reporting and analysis, providing insights to support management decision-making.
- Maintain and improve accounting processes, policies and internal controls to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Operations and external auditors, to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Support ad hoc accounting projects and special initiatives as needed.
- Utilize accounting systems (experience with NetSuite is a plus) and advanced Excel skills to streamline processes and reporting.
- Assist with tax compliance, audit preparation and regulatory reporting as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation is an asset.
- 4–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or multi-entity environment.
- Solid understanding of US and Canadian accounting principles (US GAAP experience is a plus).
- Experience with month-end and year-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software; experience with NetSuite is a plus but not required.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and data analysis.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a rapid-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience supporting multi-entity or international operations is a plus.
This position is fully in-person, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at our Concord, Ontario office. Candidates must be comfortable and available to work on-site five days per week.
