Senior Business Systems Analyst – Mainframe

Rate: $50–$60/hr

Contract: 12 months

Location: Toronto, ON – 160 Front Street West

Work Model: Hybrid – 4 days onsite

Role Overview

Seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst to support technology initiatives within a mainframe environment. The role will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into system specifications and support initiatives through the full SDLC.

Key Responsibilities

- Gather, analyze and document detailed functional and non-functional requirements.
- Create business requirements, process flows, use cases, user stories and system specifications.
- Facilitate requirements gathering, brainstorming and user story refinement sessions.
- Analyze AS-IS and TO-BE business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Translate business requirements into technical/system requirements.
- Work closely with development and technology teams within a mainframe environment.
- Manage requirements and initiatives through the full lifecycle from inception through deployment.
- Support testing, implementation and validation of delivered solutions.




- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Support multiple Agile pods and concurrent initiatives.

Must-Have Requirements
- 5–7+ years of Business Analyst / Business Systems Analyst experience.
- Strong experience working within mainframe environments, including exposure to technologies such as COBOL, IMS and DB2.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- 5–7 years of Agile experience, including hands-on use of Jira and Confluence.
- Strong requirements elicitation, documentation and stakeholder management experience.
- Experience creating user stories, process flows and functional/system requirements.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across business and technology teams.

Nice to Have
- Banking/financial services experience; previous experience within a major Canadian bank preferred.
- SQL experience.
- Data analytics or Business Intelligence experience.
- Agile certifications.
- Experience working within Protected Agile environments.
