Overview

We're looking for a highly experienced CNC professional who enjoys staying hands-on while taking ownership of technical setup, machining processes, team development, and customer-facing opportunities.

Responsibilities

- Lead the final installation, commissioning, and optimization of CNC equipment in Calgary.

- Program (Mastercam), set up, and prove out toolpaths for large-scale turning operations using steady rests, dual chucks, and tailstocks.

- Perform direct machining work as required to support production schedules and solve complex technical challenges.

- Maintain tooling inventory and create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for setups, cycle times, and quality control.

- Provide technical direction, coaching, and day-to-day support to CNC machinists.

- Help train and develop machinists in CNC setup, machining practices, tooling, quality, and safe work procedures.

- Support recruitment and onboarding of CNC team members as the division grows.

- Establish a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

- Help coordinate priorities and workflow to keep the shop operating efficiently.

- Work closely with HR, Administration, and Quality to support effective and compliant shop floor operations.

- Periodically support and optimize machine shop operations at our Nisku location.

- Support customer conversations by providing practical technical expertise and helping identify machining solutions.

Qualifications

- Certification: Journeyman Machinist Certification or equivalent technical diploma.

- Technical Experience: 5+ years programming, setting up, and operating heavy-duty CNC lathes (Fanuc controls preferred).

Experience with large-bore "oil country" lathes is a major asset.

- CAM Proficiency: Strong, practical knowledge of offline CAM software (e.g., Mastercam).

- Experience supervising, training, or scheduling shop personnel.

- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel between Calgary and Nisku as needed.

- Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code, experience with Fanuc controls is highly desirable.

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly.

- Excellent communication skills to work effectively within a team workplace.

Pay: $90,000.00 per year
