The client is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to analyze complex datasets, develop predictive and analytical models, and generate actionable insights to support business, program, and regulatory decision-making. The successful candidate will work with structured, semi-structured, unstructured, spatial, and non-spatial data and will contribute to data modernization, data quality, information management, business intelligence, and analytical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, relationships, and actionable insights.
- Develop predictive models and statistical and machine learning solutions to support business strategies and decision-making.
- Conduct exploratory and initial data analysis to understand data characteristics, quality, patterns, and trends.
- Identify business problems that can be addressed through data analysis and develop data-driven solutions.
- Identify and collect relevant structured and unstructured datasets from multiple sources.
- Research, develop, and manage information studies and creative statistical models.
- Integrate data insights into business and program strategies.
- Support data migration, digitization, modernization, and information management initiatives.
- Apply data mining, statistical analysis, predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data modelling techniques.
- Analyze and integrate spatial and non-spatial datasets to support planning, compliance, reporting, and decision-making.
- Develop dashboards, reports, visualizations, and other analytical outputs for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, GIS specialists, business analysts, project teams, and technical resources.
Must-Haves
- Senior-level experience in Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related field
- Strong experience with data analytics, relational databases, and data visualization
- Hands-on experience with geospatial/spatial data analysis and management
- Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, R Shiny, ArcGIS, or equivalent visualization/analytics platforms
- Strong experience developing and applying predictive models, statistical models, machine learning, and analytical frameworks
- Experience working with both spatial and non-spatial datasets
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
- Proficiency in Python, R, or equivalent programming languages
- Experience analyzing large and complex datasets and identifying trends, patterns, relationships, and data-quality issues
- Ability to translate business requirements into data-driven analytical solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present complex findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice-to-Haves
- Advanced degree in Statistics, Data Science, Social Science, or a related discipline
- Professional certifications such as IBM Data Science Professional Certificate or Google Data Engineer Certification
- Experience with data governance, metadata management, master data management, data lineage, ETL, data warehousing, and data integration
- Experience supporting data migration, digitization, data modernization, and legacy-data transformation
- Knowledge of GO-ITS standards, information management standards, and accessibility requirements
- Experience with Git/version control systems
- Experience preparing data dictionaries, source-to-target mapping documents, and data flow diagrams
- Experience working in government, public-sector, or highly regulated environments
- Strong project management experience
- Knowledge of emerging AI, machine learning, data engineering, and analytics technologies
