Note on Why This Role Is Open After a rewarding two-year run, our current EA is heading off to pursue full-time higher education - an exciting next chapter that unfortunately doesn’t allow for a remote continuation of the role. CanBiocin has had an extraordinary year following a significant strategic investment in 2025 from a major French multinational, with US$ 3.5 billion in annual revenue, accelerating our next stage of global growth. At our labs and production facilities in Edmonton, our busy, lean, and ambitious team works at the intersection of science, business, and health innovation to develop species‑specific probiotic solutions that improve animal, human and environmental health and wellbeing.
At this stage of our growth, we are looking to welcome an executive assistant (and a reliable right-hand) to our CEO.
Elements of this role are familiar: calendar and complex travel management, handling confidential communications, and coordination with stakeholders on all fronts. Take on the role of a trusted partner to the CEO, providing proactive support across day-to-day priorities and longer-term initiatives.
Coordinate domestic and international travel logistics and itineraries, including visas and expense reconciliation. Support government grants and funding efforts by helping assess opportunity fit, coordinating and drafting applications, assembling supporting documentation and managing reporting/collection processes.
Manage recruitment for key roles: help shape job descriptions, coordinate interviews, manage references and close offers; Help build and preserve company culture: organize initiatives that reinforce engagement and retention, and contribute to a positive, high-accountability workplace.
Oversee risk and compliance tasks in applicable domains: maintain registers, coordinate audits or regulatory submissions as needed, and help implement corrective actions. Support strategic planning and organizational initiatives led by the CEO and the leadership team.
Support the implementation, optimization, and ongoing administration of business systems where needed. Take on special projects as priorities evolve. Manage 12+ domestic/international trips per year; 3–5 years supporting C‑level or senior leaders, preferably in small or mid‑sized organizations. ~ Ability to commute to the Edmonton office location; occasional travel possible. ~ Proactive Problem-Solving & Initiative : You take the initiative to understand the office’s rhythm and decision-making processes, independently and reliably addressing issues as they arise. ~ Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, or a related field is preferred. ~ Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365; Training will be provided.
