Candidates must work from within Alberta The Senior Financial Analyst will provide advanced accounting and financial analysis support, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information and reporting.
This role requires a strong technical accounting background and the ability to independently manage complex financial activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, month-end/year-end processes, financial reporting, audit support, and compliance .
The successful candidate will also identify financial risks and process improvement opportunities while providing financial guidance to internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex account reconciliations, financial analysis, and journal entries .
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
- Lead/support month-end and year-end accounting activities .
- Review financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Investigate and resolve accounting, reporting, and financial system issues.
- Monitor and analyze accounts receivable, revenue, payroll-related transactions, and inter-unit accounts .
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, reconciliations, and working papers.
- Identify financial risks, control gaps, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Develop and maintain financial procedures, documentation, and reporting tools.
- Provide technical advice regarding accounting standards, financial policies, legislation, and procedures .
- Support financial system enhancements and operational/process improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and central agencies to support financial accountability.
Required Skills & Experience ✅ Strong experience in financial analysis,
accounting operations, reconciliations, and financial reporting
✅ Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
✅ Experience with month-end and year-end financial processes
✅ Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, financial policies, and audit requirements
✅ Experience supporting internal and external audits
✅ Solid analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify financial risks and resolve complex accounting issues
✅ Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
✅ Experience working with ERP/financial systems
✅ Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound professional judgment
Work Arrangement
This is a primarily remote position , but candidates must perform the work from within Alberta .
Occasional onsite attendance may be required based on business needs and with reasonable notice. Any required onsite meetings will be within Alberta.
Candidates are responsible for providing their own computer and required home-office equipment. Windows is preferred for compatibility with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
Security & Compliance A Background Check and Enhanced / Level 2 Security Clearance are required.
