We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Information Systems Specialist to support complex technical environments, infrastructure initiatives, escalations, and project implementations across our multi-company ecosystem. This role requires a strong technical resource who can work independently, support operational stability, and contribute to infrastructure improvements in a dynamic environment.
Position Summary The Senior Information Systems Specialist provides senior-level technical support and infrastructure assistance across multiple business units and locations.
This role is ideal for a hands-on IT skilled with strong infrastructure experience who can independently troubleshoot complex issues, support infrastructure systems, assist with technical projects, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will balance operational support responsibilities with infrastructure improvements, project work, technical documentation, and collaboration with internal teams while maintaining strong communication, organization, and customer service standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver complex IT infrastructure projects, including planning, execution, and post-implementation support, ensuring alignment with business objectives and client expectations.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve high-availability, scalable, and secure IT environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.
- Act as a technical lead in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new and emerging technologies that drive efficiency, performance, and innovation.
- Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective technology solutions.
- Develop comprehensive project documentation, including project charters, scopes, implementation plans, and technical standards for initiatives such as network redesigns, cloud transformations, and enterprise applications.
- Architect and deploy Microsoft cloud solutions, including Azure AD, Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint), and Teams (including telephony), with a focus on optimization and user adoption.
- Provide strategic guidance on IT security frameworks, implementing controls across networks, systems, and applications (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, endpoint security, intrusion detection).
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and system enhancements in collaboration with leadership, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum business value.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, driving resolution while mentoring Level 2 team members and promoting knowledge sharing.
- Establish and maintain system monitoring, performance benchmarks, and proactive alerting to ensure optimal uptime and service reliability.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and client IT governance, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to IT policies, procedures, and best practices, including disaster recovery, business continuity, and access management.
- Support data-driven decision-making by developing and maintaining KPI dashboards and reports using tools such as MS SQL and Power BI.
- Provide clear and consistent project status updates to stakeholders, highlighting risks, progress, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide advanced technical support and guidance to end users, including training and advisory services to improve technology adoption and efficiency.
- Participate in after-hours support and critical incident response as required.
- Continuously assess business operations and recommend technology-driven improvements to optimize performance and scalability.

Qualifications & Experience
- College diploma or university degree in computer science or equivalent education and job-related experience.
- 10+ years’ experience in corporate IT or managed IT services environments.
- 5+ years’ experience in network administration supporting multi-site LAN/WAN environments
- 5+ years’ experience architecting and maintaining secure Microsoft Azure environments
- 5+ years’ experience managing SharePoint environments.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 email systems, including mail flow and spam filtering.
- Project management skills and detail organization
- Advanced experience configuring and supporting network switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Experience installing, maintaining, and optimizing wireless networks.
- Experience supporting Windows workstations and network printers in corporate environments.
- Experience with enterprise security, antivirus, and backup solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
- Experience with Windows 2008-2016 network servers in both physical and virtual environments, including Active Directory and Group Policy administration
- Experience with VMware environments
- Experience developing Microsoft Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Moderate expertise in MS SQL Server management and query writing
- Experience supporting D365 Business Central and/or D365 Sales is an asset.
- Experience with Datto RMM, Autotask PSA, or equivalent platforms
- Experience with Check Point, Meraki, Fortinet, or WatchGuard firewalls
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle due to occasional travel.
