Job Title : Senior Quality Assurance Engineer – Manual & Automation
Full-time Chance | Hybrid in the Greater Vancouver Metropolitan Area | Salary: $100,000–$125,000/year (depending on experience & qualifications) | Must hold a valid Canadian Work Visa
Our client, a leading British Columbia member-services organization, is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer – Manual & Automation to join its technology team in a permanent, full-time capacity.
This is a unique opportunity for a senior QA professional interested in the future of mobility and micromobility technology . The role supports a diverse portfolio of customer-facing and operational platforms spanning car sharing, bike sharing, automotive services, and roadside assistance , with testing extending beyond traditional software into integrated vehicle and hardware environments.
The successful candidate will take a hands-on role across manual testing, test automation, test planning, API testing, defect analysis, and production support . Testing will span web and mobile applications, APIs, and integrated hardware/software solutions, including cars, e-bikes, and e-scooters.
A major focus will be developing and maintaining reliable automated regression coverage, with Tricentis Tosca as the primary automation platform. This role is well suited to a curious and technically capable QA professional who enjoys investigating complex problems, understanding how systems behave in real-world environments, and working collaboratively with product, technology, business, and vendor teams to deliver stable, high-quality customer experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Review requirements, user stories, business workflows, and technical changes to develop comprehensive, risk-based test coverage
- Develop test strategies, test plans, scenarios, and cases that efficiently address functional requirements, edge cases, integration points, and customer or operational risks
- Determine the appropriate balance of manual and automated testing based on risk, complexity, repeatability, and release requirements
- Execute manual and automated testing across web applications, mobile applications, APIs, and integrated vehicle platforms , including cars, e-bikes, and e-scooters
- Create, maintain, and enhance automated test suites using Tricentis Tosca , including reusable and model-based test components
- Monitor and troubleshoot daily automated regression runs,
distinguishing application defects from automation script, test data, configuration, and environment issues
- Continuously improve automation stability, reusability, maintainability, and coverage across high-risk and business-critical workflows
- Perform functional, regression, integration, system, exploratory, risk-based, API, and end-to-end testing
- Identify defects, assess severity and business impact, gather supporting evidence, document findings, and track issues through resolution
- Perform API testing and validation using tools such as Postman
- Apply test automation scripting and JavaScript knowledge to support automated testing activities
- Communicate test coverage, quality status, defects, release risks, and technical implications clearly to both business and technology stakeholders
- Collaborate with product owners, delivery teams, vendors, developers, and business partners to investigate issues and reduce delivery and release risks
- Configure hardware and software systems required to support product launches, testing activities, and operational changes
- Investigate production issues, perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis , and support timely issue resolution
- Support system upgrades and production activities, including occasional work outside regular business hours
- Participate in Agile/DevOps delivery processes and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing, automation, and overall quality engineering practices
- Perform occasional offsite testing of supported mobility platforms and real-world customer workflows as required
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of relevant QA/software or system testing experience , including significant hands-on experience with both manual and automated testing
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting test automation frameworks and automated test suites
- 1–2 years of experience in a Senior or Lead QA capacity
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering , or a related discipline,
or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong knowledge of testing strategies and methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, system, exploratory, risk-based, manual, and automated testing
- Demonstrated experience testing web applications, mobile applications, APIs, and integrated hardware/software solutions
- Strong experience designing effective test coverage based on requirements, workflows, risks, edge cases, and customer or operational impacts
- Hands-on experience creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated regression suites; Tricentis Tosca experience is strongly preferred
- Tricentis Tosca training or certification is considered an asset
- Strong ability to investigate test failures, perform root-cause analysis, assess defect severity, and distinguish product defects from script, data, configuration, or environment issues
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman
- Hands-on knowledge of JavaScript and test automation scripting
- Hands-on SQL knowledge is considered an asset
- Experience working within Agile/DevOps environments , including familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and SDLC/STLC practices
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate quality and release risks
- Strong attention to detail and an investigative mindset with the ability to identify edge cases and real-world customer impacts
- Self-directed and collaborative, with the ability to work effectively with delivery teams, vendors, product stakeholders, and business partners
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on improving test coverage, automation reliability, and overall quality practices
- Comfortable performing hands-on testing of cars, e-bikes, and e-scooters , including occasional offsite testing
- Valid driver's licence and comfortable driving car-share vehicles and riding e-bikes and e-scooters
- Physically capable of lifting and moving equipment such as e-bikes and e-scooters weighing approximately 80+ lbs
- Available to occasionally support system upgrades or production issues outside regular business hours
