Position Overview:
The Site Service Manager will oversee the entire service team at our customer site in support of a long-term maintenance contract. The Site Service Manager will work under the direction of and report directly to the Improvement Manager and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the service team, customer relationship, service delivery, and overall system performance.
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the onsite service and maintenance team.
- Lead by example and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, management directives, and safety standards.
- Communicate and implement new or revised policies, procedures, and processes within the team.
- Manages the day-to-day delivery or service and maintenance activities, ensuring appropriate coverage and compliance with contractual Service Levels.
- Plan and manage weekly team schedules, including shifts, vacation, breaks, and other staffing requirements.
- Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Service Levels, system availability, downtime, and maintenance performance.
- Prepare and conduct performance reviews and manage employee development, motivation, and performance.
- Apply appropriate supervisory practices, including coaching, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action.
- Administer and support the site safety program and ensure required certifications and training are maintained.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key customer contacts, internal stakeholders, and SSI teams.
- Act as the primary on-site point of contact for the customer regarding day-to-day service delivery.
- Coordinate complex technical, operational, and performance issues with the Improvement Manager and appropriate internal teams.
- Coordinate and manage third-party service providers and maintenance contractors.
- Define and continuously improve workflows, processes, and team responsibilities to maximize system uptime and performance.
- Identify resource requirements and make recommendations regarding staffing and organizational needs.
- Support maintenance contract requirements, reporting, and service reviews.
- Participate in the resolution of complex system issues involving mechanical, electrical, controls, and software systems.
- Provide guidance and support to customer and service personnel regarding the proper operation and maintenance of the material handling system.
- Assign and coordinate work activities to effectively utilize available resources and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Work closely with international SSI teams to resolve technical and operational issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Participating in customer and internal meetings, including regular service reviews.
- Work independently with limited direct supervision and exercise sound judgment in day-to-day operational decisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
- 4+ year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of experience in automated material handling, warehouse automation, or similar industrial environment.
- 2+ years of people management and supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.
- Strong electrical knowledge, including writing, AC power, AC Motors, electrical drawing & schematics, and control panels.
- Knowledge and experience with controls components, such as Servo Drives, PLC, PC Controllers, DC Power Supplies, and optical devices (i.e., encoders, proto eyes, etc.).
- Experience with automated warehouse systems, conveyors, AS/RS, RGVs, or similar equipment is an asset.
- Experience managing customer relationships and third-party service providers.
- Ability to track and analyze KPIs, downtime, system availability, maintenance performance, and implement and lead direct improvement initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced automated warehouse environment.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
